“Mixed feelings”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2008

I located Seascape's website and emailed the property directly as the website did not give enough information for my needs. After several pleasant emails exchanged between the new owner and myself, I confirmed that we would be reserving a 2 bedroom apartment for 6 people, 2 adults and 4 children with breakfast included. We would pay an additional $15 per day for one of our children since they only allow 4 people per room, at the listed rate, our 3 year old son would not be charged. About a month before our arrival, I had heard that a price increase was in effect due to the change in ownership, so I emailed the hotel to confirm that they would honor the rate I was quoted initially. I was emailed by Stacey, the sales coordinator who was assured me that they would. By the way Stacey is wonderful, she is everything that customer service should be!!!

We arrived on February 22, 2008 as scheduled only a few hours late due to our flight being delayed as a fast moving snowstorm hit our area that morning. Stacey was waiting for us as we arrived, she told us we could take care of the financials in the morning as she could see that we were tired from our travels. She explained that she felt our room would not be suitable for our needs in her opinion due to the fact that the only bathroom was located within the master bedroom. While we did not have a real issue with it, it was inconvenient and we would have appreciated being told of this up front. To remedy the situation she offered us the room we originally booked for the kids and a standard room for us rigth next door, complimentary for the night until she could move us to another room in the morning. We inquired about where and when breakfast would be served but she was not aware that they were serving breakfast and after showing her the emails from Mr. Bartlett saying they would, she said she would take care of it. When we awoke and dressed for the day we went in search of our meal but we unable to locate any hotel personnel, so we took the kids to Selina's to eat. When the office opened , we went to change rooms but were told that our room was not vacated as of yet, so we should go about our day and she would take care of moving everything for us including getting the breakfast issue strightenend out. Well when we returned our things had still not been moved and now we were being offered to keep the accomodations that we had but at an increased cost. We could not afford the increase, so we declined and asked to keep the original 2 bedroom suite. We were told that we could but because of the ages of my children that we would not be comfortable with the bathroom situation as it was. Stacey said she would talk to the owner and see what she could work out for us. The manager Mr. Bartlett was not amenable to any reduction of price, he was rude and disrespectful to my husband (who by the way is Jamaican) and myself . It appears that the issue was that my daughter is 17 and they consider her an adult. We are well traveled and know that most hotels will consider her an adult however when we have stayed in places that offer family suites, her age has never been an issue because we are staying in one large room opposed to two separate rooms. Now to be clear their definition of a 2 bedroom suite is one true bedroom with the bathroom within that room, a large living room that housed two double beds and a small kitchenette, not a proper two separate bedrooms. Still not a problem we would get over the inconvenience but the real issue was how we were treated by the owner. He acted as if we were trying to cheat him and spoke very harshly to us. We thanked Stacey for her help and returned to our room for the evening. In the morning we had decided that if they did not serve us breakfast as promised we would seek other accomodations, unfortunately breakfast was no where to be found on the premises and once again we had to pay for our meals at a restaurant.

After breakfast we searched out a few hotels to see their availability and found a great little place on the cliffs that met our needs. We promptly returned to Seascape, settled our bill for the two days and checked out. The property in itself is decent, basic but clean, nice pool and bar and the front office staff are great. While I realize that this is probably a very individualistic situation but due to the rudeness we encountered by the owner, I cannot and will not recommend this hotel.

“Great Small Hotel in Negril”

This is a great hotel just across the street from the 7 mile beach. The rooms were simple but adequate and clean. Tehy let you use the kitchen if you want to prepare your own meals. We loved the pool area, it was deserted, so we had it to ourselves for the week. Walk to all the fun on the beach! Will stay again!

  • Liked — The rates and the location
  • Disliked — that we had to go home
  • Tips/Secrets — ask to use the kitchen!

“Wonderful Place”

I had a great time there! The staff was helpful. Miss Evon (the cleaning woman) went above and beyond for us. We had much respect for a women who cleaned all the rooms and did the laundry herself - not only for the hotel but for the residents as well. We had a room that was nice and spacious. It even had a kitchen. I guess we lucked up on that room, b/c it's a live in hotel to many, and I am pretty sure they use that room for guest that stays longer than 4 days. The residents and staff were friendly, and I think we made some lasting friendships. I know my friends and I intend to return, and we would have "no problem" going back there. I agree with all the other reviews that the location of the hotel was perfect in relation to other places and the beach. I didn't mind the rooster, but I was afraid of the crabs that were all along the strip!

“Wonderful Little Hotel”

My group spent 4 days at Sea Scape in Negril, and it was wonderful. The receptionists were nice, the staff was friendly, and everybody was really accommodating.

The location of this hotel is great. It's right on the main road, and across the street from the 7-mile beach. You can walk to the little supermarket down the road for snacks, or eat at any hotel or jerk stand on the main road if you're hungry. There's also an internet cafe across the street in case you need to log on while you're there. And you never have to wait more than 5 minutes for a taxi out on the road.
My room was small but comfortable, but another pair in our group got a very spacious room with a kitchenette and separate bedroom. Very nice. A rooster nearby served as our alarm clock most days, but after a while we didn't mind. We had the pool all to ourselves- it's lovely, up on the second floor. Refreshingly chilly during the day and warmer by evening.

For the low price, Sea Scape surpassed my expectations.
