We were at Beaches Negril with our three children, aged 5, 3, and 5 months old. Having stayed at Beaches Boscobel for the precious three years, we had high expectations for Negril. We were deeply disappointed in the service at the concierge level. At Boscobel, we were called by name, asked every day what they could do for us, went out of their way to make us feel special. We didn't feel that way at Negril until three days in when we complained to the manager. After our complaint, we were treated like gold.
Now on to the good...Negril has the nicest beach in all the Caribbean! The water skiing was amazing. We also enjoyed our time on the water trikes and the glass-bottom boat. I had a wonderful massage from the Red Lane Spa in their hut on their beach. Amazing. Our room was 801 and was a honeymoon beachfront suite. When we go back next year, we will request this room again because it was the closest to the beach and allowed us to have the kids napping and we could sit on the beach with the monitor. The room was spacious and very modern and clean. The bed was super comfortable. Our son slept on the pull-out couch and that was great. We had two cribs for our girls and put one in the huge closet/sink area and the other out in the entryway. It worked perfectly.
The nursery was fantastic for our five month old. They treated her wonderfully in there and we felt safe and secure with her there. We had a nanny every evening in our room from 8-10 by the name of Nage and she was spectacular. We will request her next year again. She even came to the lobby to say good bye to us when we left at the end of the week. Ironically we ran into our nanny from Beaches Boscobel from last year (Lamarr) who was there for a few days on a training visit and she remembered us!!
We would like to thank Daniela who allowed us to go to Sandals one evening for dinner to check it out. Apparently they changed the rules though. It used to be that staying at Beaches, you could go to the Sandals and use their facilities as well but that has since changed. However, if you stay at Sandals, you can go to Beaches. Doesn't make much sense. However, we had a wonderful dinner there and enjoyed seeing it there. It was amazing how different the quality of service was. At Beaches, you could wait awhile at the bar before a bartender would acknowledge you but at Sandals, they were asking you what you wanted to drink even before you got to the bar. We will definitely go to Sandals Negril one day but if we hadn't been able to check it out, we wouldn't have known how great it was.
We particularly liked the water slides, although they couldn't compare to the water park at Boscobel. Hopefully they will redo it someday so it is like the one at Boscobel. We were glad that they lowered the height restrictions and that meant our five year old was tall enough to go on them. We spent a lot of time on the water slides. Kimone was amazing at running the slides from the top. She knew each and every child's name that went down the slide and made the experience so fun for them. She was fantastic.
Our meals were great. We particularly enjoyed the Japanese restaurant where we dined twice. The Italian was good and our server was great (can't remember his name). We enjoyed having lunch at the pizzeria or the grill by the pool. The Mill was pretty much the same each day but great for breakfast. The kids just ate there at dinner and that was fine for them. One night there was lobster and we had that before our dinner out and it was really good.
Sesame Street shows were great. Kids loved them. We also saw Zoe in the nursery and Elmo out on the beach and were able to get pictures with them.
Despite our few complaints, we have a fantastic time and can't wait to go back!
