Hello travellers, i was in negril on 8-29---9-3, 2011. I choose to stay a the carib beach apartments for a sense of privacy and they were just that. There was a fair share of PROs and Cons but if u do enough research, you'll kno how to prepare. First, there was a little confusion at the airport beacuzz i booked through travelocity and they told me that i would have to go to another hotel to pick our key up. Threrefore i had to make sure the shuttle knew where to pick us up. My iternary stated the i was staying at Firefly Cottages(where we had to pick the key up) so i had to make sure they knew to pick us up at Carib Beach apartments.Second, when we finally got to the shuttle to head to the hotel, the driver tried to hustle us. He said that it would be an extra charged to first take us to Firefly(which is out of the way from our apartments)then make a u-turn to take us back the way we came to the Apartments. I tried to tell him that travelocity arranged it like that and that i'd already paid. He seemed a little frustrated about it but he got over it when we threaten to call the tour company he worked for. Thirdly, The apartments were clean and decent. Our room was right on the ocean. Since our room was right on the ocean meant that we were far from the main road. The complex is hugh so if u book a oceanfrtont room, expect to walk a good 5 mins to the main road. Carib beach apartments are pretty much far from everything. Its very secluded. So plan to take a cab everywhere u need to go. Theres a full grocery store about 10 mins away. That cab ride should be 5$us one way per person. The Seven Mile Beach is about 4 miles away and that should cost 2$us one way per person. We spent alot of time at the Seven Mile, its a gorgeous beach. The beach at the apartments was nice but was a little dirty and unkept. There was debrie and seaweed along the edge of the waters which made it hard to swim in. The grounds were beauitful. Garden was groomed and the water pools were nice. Theres a rocky cove to the far right of the apartments that were nice but dangerous to climb or walk on. If ur looking for privacy , this is the best place to be in Negril. One of my hang ups was that the main office to the actual grounds were closed, so whenever we had a probelm we had to tell the front desk at Firefly which was difficult becuzz the phones in the rooms did not work.We had to catch a cab just to make a complaint or ask ?'s. Although we had few complaints, it would have been nice to have someone there when u need. The security helped out alot as far as where to eat and shop. That was about the only person we had direct contact with.Overall, its was a great experience and would do it all over. Thank u Firefly/Carib Beach apartments. It was awesome.
