We (myself, mother, brother and adult son) stayed here in March 2009. The accommodations were quite spacious with a lovely and very large balcony. The location is about 10 minutes from Ocho Rios. We rented a car so that was no problem to us. The grounds are well maintained and all the people that we encountered were very friendly. There is a "helper "that stays in your apartment all day whether ;you want them to or not. I would not recommend this place to honeymooners. She will cook if you wish.The beach is small, but the pool is clean and adequate. We were gone most of the day every day, so did not mind the helper. Toscannini right across the street has wonderful food!

Sea Palms is a complex of oceanfront apartments with its own private beach and pool area. From what I understand, all the apartments are owned by different individuals so the condition of the apartments will vary. We rented apartment A5, since it was the only four bedroom apartment in the complex and there were 8 of us. The apt was beautifully decorated and everything seemed to be in good condition with a great view and very large balcony. We had a very nice maid who cooked every meal (Jamaican food is delicious by the way) for us and was the sweetest person. A big concern for us before we went to Jamaica was safety/crime and the complex has 24-hour security and and no time did I ever feel unsafe.

We did not experience any of the problems the previous reviewer had and found all the staff extremely eager to please us. Like I said though, each apartment is owned by separate individuals so I'm sure the conditions will vary. I believe the site we used was seapalmsjamaica.com.

The only complaint I have is that the beach was a little small, but very pleasant all the same. Would highly recommend the apartments (especially for a group) given that it is much cheaper than staying at a fancy hotel and you get your own place with a full-time maid.

We spent four days in Sea Palms. The first apartment we were given smelled damp and was shabbily furnished. We had a distant view of the sea. We asked for a move and were told that was not possible as they were fully booked. When we decided to move to alternative accomodation they offered another apartment. The furnishings were slighty better and we decided to stay.

The first night water started running down the wall from the air conditioning unit to such a degree that we had to switch it off. The apartment was overwhelmingly hot in spite of fans. I spoke to a member of staff the following day who told me that she knew that if we had stayed in the original apartment we would not have had any problems and commented that she did not know why we had a problem with that first apartment. I spoke to the maid who told me the problem is that "people touch the air conditioning unit". That problem was sorted.

The following day we had a sleep in the afternoon and got up to discover that the rooms apart from the bedroom were completely flooded. Water was still running through the ceiling - including through electric lights etc. I went to find someone, only to discover that they were mopping the upstairs apartment and told me there had been a flood. They did not think to tell us as they did not know if we were in. Very little concern from staff over this incident. No offer of an alternative room and no apology from management before we left.

A taxi driver talked about remembering when these apartments were excellent. They had the feel of having been good quality in the past but were shabby and somewhat run down. The pool is basic but not a pleasant relaxing environment. The beach is very small.

All but one member of staff seemed unconcerned by the problems we encountered.

I have written many reviews on Tripadvisor (including Marblue for the earlier part of our trip to Jamaica) and have never written such a poor review. When I read negative reviews I often try to make some assessment of the writer. I rarely complain about service and usually try to find something positive in situations. It was difficult to do this with Sea Palms.

stayed at Sea Palms last summer with my fiance.... we loved the beutiful views overlokking the sea.. Staff there was quite helpful and friendly. The apts were spacious and clean... grounds were well kept . Definately worth going back year, after year.........
