“Great Place to Visit!!”

I recently visited this resort December 12-19. This was my favorite all inclusive I have ever stayed at. Don't miss the Jerk Chicken Cart, Fresh Fruit Cart, and Coconut Cart and add a little rum to the coconut delicious and all poolside!! We did the snorkel and hobbie boat excursion. I would recommend the 1 hr boat snorkel the guides are great and very fun I got to hold a sea urchin! This was a great place to stay the piano bar is really fun! We did the hibachi twice it was the best restaurant so book it when you check in it fills up fast..Skip the Italian its like Chef Boyardee not so great...Service can be slow but your on vacation so just relax and be patient :)

Room Tip: I would not pay the extra amount to stay on the prefered side. All the rooms are beautiful save you...

“Loving Secrets”

Having stayed at Secrets is one that will not and cannot be forgotten. The staff, ambience and overall experience were absolutely amazing. Biggest big up of all to Mr. Billy Love who over-extended himself to ensure that my stay and that of my friends was a relaxing and fun-filled. We thank you tremendously for everything and appreciate the hard-work you put in to make our short stay a memorable one.

Once you drive through the gate of the hotel, you get that homey feeling which you receive from the bell man to the house-cleaning attendant to the front desk attendant to the manager. I would recommend this hotel 10 times over. Thanks again to everyone...big up Secrets and see you soon... :-)

Room Tip: Anywhere on property is great

“Pricesless Experience, Amazing Resort”

This is what you call a priceless vacation place. For what you pay and the service it is incredible. The GM Emilio Huhn is a hands on person, very personable and then Billy Love makes you feel like you are home and like you have been there many times. Every staff bouncing off the wall and genuinely seem happy to be at work. The amenities are also to die for. Dining is great, i love Salmon and guess what it is on the menu at one of the restaurants. Hmmmm, the bed, i good go on and on but Secrets is a must do. Jeffery the bell man....

Room Tip: Rooms on lower floor gets you quicker to beach

“Don't let iffy reviews turn you off, THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I will be the first to say we were skeptical of this resort because we let the negative trip TripAdvisor reviews weigh in. However, my wife and I had the best vacation we have ever had. I will try to break my review down into a few segments, room, food, service, and miscellaneous. Prepare yourself, might be lengthy.

Check-In and Room:
We arrived in Montego Bay around 11am, and boarded a bus, when we arrived at Secrets and our luggage was taken off the bus, a very friendly bellman said "OK you are on vacation now, don't touch your bags, eat, drink, rest, and repeat, no more work, we will take care of it". What a great way to start. Because we arrived so early, and the resort was 100% full the day prior, our room wasn't ready yet. No big deal, we went and had lunch, and by the time we finished lunch, our room was ready. We arrived in our room to find a nicely decorated, king bed, with balcony, and beautiful view of the ocean. Your fridge has some red stripe, pop, and water in it, which was plenty. The bathroom/shower was very nice as well, some basic suplies are provided (i.e. soap, shampoo, sewing kit, shoe polish) are provided. THE BED!!! Best bed I have ever, ever slept in.

Now, mid trip we were offered an opportunity to upgrade to preferred club, we had initially declined it, and yes, it is pushed, but a polite no thank you is all that is needed to be said. We decided we might as well see all that is offered. They gave us a discounted rate, which I promised I wouldn't disclose, however I do know it was cheaper than the standard upgrade. We had a room with the swim out to the pool, however it does not connect to the main pool, and it is cold/but refreshing after sitting in the sun all day. It also has a private tub on the balcony for a nice soak. There is also a bottle of vodka, rum, and brandy in your room. Aside of that, you get access to the private beach and pool, and a small buffet and bar in the lobby, but in reality you can walk just a few feet off the building and get the same food and drink, I guess it's all in what you want. You also get free internet access, however, for the first time in a long time I detached myself from the world, and had no need for it. So when it comes down to the room, now don't get me wrong, the rooms were both spectacular, however I think we would stay in the regular, it met our needs, but if you want to "Live it up" preferred club is great too. Side note, I saw reviews that indicated people do preferred club because the other sides are to noisy, we never found noise to be an issue.

Food: Two MINOR issues in the food was the Hot Dog, being from the Chicago area, I consider myself a hot dog expert and this was not a good hot dog, did not finish it. The other issue was hot chocolate from the coffee bar, my wife took a small sip, and said somethings not right, I smelt it, not good, we did notice the milk looked different to us, maybe it was just us. Now that being said, the rest of our food/dining experiences were perfect! We ate at the buffet, Oceana, Bordeaux, Blue Mountain, Himitsu, Portofino, and Seaside Grill. All of which had DELICIOUS food, never once did we dislike a meal, we saw a lot of complaints about portion size on here, and here is what my wife and I concluded. Each dinner restaurant offers you 5 courses, and if you had each course, there was no way you could leave hungry. If you did feel hungry still, I guess you could probably ask for more, or go to another restaurant. But we always felt as if we were full, not stuffed, but full. Each course is what I guess us Americans would call small, but again, we felt like we ate very well! If you go hungry here, it is your fault, plenty of food and drink to go around. We never felt the service was slow, but we also were on vacation, and carried that mindset the whole trip.

Service:
Plain and simple, the staff did anything you needed, everything was "No Problem", "No worries", or "My pleasure". Never once did we feel disrespected, mishandled, or not cared for. From the groundskeeper, to the management, rarely did you see one staff member that didn't say hello, how are you, or welcome to Jamaica. Phillip in the Baracuda bar taught me about Cricket, and we had some laughs, nice bartender. Eric in the Wild Orchid Pool bar also was quite the mix master. Our house keeper did a fantastic job, every day! Even left us nice notes from time to time. Room service was efficient and fast, our deliver man brought us our lunch balanced on his head, worth a couple extra dollars to me :-) The staff makes this resort what it is, welcoming, relaxing, AMAZING.

Ok, one extra section:

Jerk Chicken, YOU MUST!! I REPEAT, YOU MUST!! Sheldon comes from the Wild Orchid side somewhere between 1130-1200, get it while you can, he does run out but much later in the day. The "Magic Sauce", if you don't get it on your chicken, then don't bother getting the chicken. Would be a waste not to. You will hear him and his famous "JERKY, JERKY, JERKY!!!" Follow your nose and ears at that point.

One more, entertainment:
We were pretty low key, but did enjoy some resort entertainment. Two good nights, and one work in progress. Shyam Moses is a must see, he did an acoustic set outside, we bought his CD after, and plan on buying the rest of them. The house band (Blow Wow) was great also, they were having some keyboard issues that night, but never really affected the show. The work in progress, the resort tried to put on something similar to Cirque Du Soleil, if you went in with the mind set that these people are going to work very hard to provide you a great night of entertainment you will enjoy it. If you think you are seeing Cirque Du Soleil you probably will be on here complaining. Truthfully the annoying part of the act was the MC, not the talent, again, they are trying extremely hard to entertain, enjoy it and don't hate on them.

In closing, Great Resort, Great Food, Great Service, We have been gone for less than 24 hours and I miss it already, I am listening to Reggae as I write this, and could use a rum punch or two. If we go back to Jamaica we will be back at Secrets, if you we travel elsewhere, and their is a Secrets, we will stay there.

If you want to know anything else, shoot me a message, I hope you enjoy the Best Kept Secret in Jamaica.

Respect my friends!

“Amazing vacation!! Definitely recommend!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My fiancée and I just returned from a 5 night stay at Secrets Wild Orchid. Our vacation was everything we had hoped for and more! We booked a month before our trip so we paid a little more than we had planned, but it was worth every penny!
The trip from the airport is quick, under 30 minutes. We were greeted by numerous people (one taking our bags, one escorting us to the lobby, one giving us glasses of champagne and cool towels). I cannot say enough about the amazing people that work at SEcrets. Everyone is super nice and friendly. And everyone greets you with "welcome home." Check in was easy and painless and we went right to out room(before official checkin time)! We had a great room, ground level. At first I was skeptical about being on the ground floor, but it was actually convienant and pretty awesome! During the day, we would leave the back door unlocked, which was great for bathroom breaks, etc. Overall, the room itself was great. Air conditioning that actually kept the room very cool. Decent furniture and linens. Also plenty of towels. The shower head sucked. There is a rainfall shower head which is useless and a hand-held that would not stay in position.. It took many attempts during every shower to get that thing to stay. Also the lighting in the bathroom was not great...hard to do makeup, but everyone looks better with the dim lighting :) I am picky and particular about my bathroom and sleeping arrangements. That being said, I was very comfortable and happy with the accommodations.
The food and drinks were excellent. At the first bar we went to, the bar right off the lobby, there was Grey Goose! Already we were happy! I read many negative reviews of the food so I went in with an open mind. The food was great! During the day there is delicious and plentiful jerk chicken on between the pool and beach. Also a guy cutting fresh pineapple and coconuts. There is also a grill for hotdogs burgers etc and Jamaican beef patties and fritters... Soo good but addicting! Dinners were good. We went to Jamaican, French, Japanese, and Mexican. They were all delicious with great service. We made reservations for the Japanese restaurant when we checked in and went there the next evening at 9:15...late but it's vacation! It was so much fun and the chefs are hilarious and a great time! I did not eat much for breakfast, but my fiancée did and enjoyed it. Room
service is great and fast too! We ordered 2 times and we ordered a lot of food and it was all delicious!
Drinks are top shelf in most bars but not all! Great drinks! Coffee bar with great dessert too!
Lots of great outdoor seating areas with great views. Especially by the end of the beach where there are starfish... Beautiful. Night life not spectacular. We stayed pretty low key for the most part. Went out one night off the resort, but pretty much relaxed and hung out at the resort. It was paradise and the pools and beaches are great. They give you as many towels as you want. There are rafts for the pool and the temp is cold but refreshing. Pool bar is great and that water is warm!
We love secrets. Definitley go if you get the opportunity!!!
