“Never again..”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2011

After reading the reviews of this hotel, I expected to get something which would resemble a descent hotel, instead I got nothing but sour faces, poor quality and quantity foods, and a hotel which provided an unrequested wake-up at 230 am.
First off, this was a house converted into a motel, yet it is called a hotel. There is nothing which qualifies this as a hotel. The rooms are not a bad size, so that is a pass, the bed is comfortable, so that works to. The bathroom is very narrow and small, I bashed my knee on the door frame getting out of the shower, that is how tight it is in the washroom.
The food was not fresh, most likely frozen and heated up.. the taste was bland and the choices were very minimal. There is no value for your money on food. better to hit the town or order pizza(I should have done that).
what bothered me most of all was the way in which they deal with customers and the lack of consideration for the people staying there. we were awakened at 230 am to the loud sounds of banging in the hotel. I called the front desk and asked if there was some food prep going in the kitchen, here the answers, no no kitchen staff right now , is there some type of construction going on? no no construction. Oh ok, then it is 230 in the morning, and there is a loud banging sound.. oh that is a lady checking out, it is just her alone taking her luggage down the stairs" Oh ok. the fact that someone is available to carry the smallest piece of luggage to your room for a tip at check in is one thing, but not help someone take their obviously heavy luggage down the old wooden stairs at 230 am, and not apologize for the inconvenience of being woken up is only one reason I would steer clear of this hotel.
At breakfast, continental? included. there are three options, and all options give you no reason to eat there. We took option two, which consisted of, two medium very dry pancakes which had watermelon rind and a piece of cucumber on the plate., one plate of three small watermelon(with many seeds) pieces, and one plate of three very small pineapple pieces The amount of food is not enough to go for any substantial length of time. The service was horrible, one server for all the guests at tables, the wait time was far too long, her and the host had no communication as to who placed an order, she was beyond miserable, her fingers held the glasses by the rims. There were three tables one couple at one, us, and another with six, she got none of the orders right and left the people bewildered about what she was doing. so people had to wait longer than the 20 minutes each table already waited. Pathetic.
At check-out, when I mentioned the issues of why I did not enjoy my stay there, the receptionist did not look me in the eyes to acknowledge my concern, nor did she offer any form of honest apology, it was more of a "I apologize now go away." If you apologize - mean it..
I would never ever stay there again, and advise people unless you are desperate, do not stay there. Your money is welcome , but our service won't be here for you.

“You get what you paid for”

Needs some work.
Starting to become somewhat dated.
Essentially you get what you paid for.
Internet free, but dropped out sometimes.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

This hotel was nice, i like the flowers when you enter. The staff was ok (just ok), the food and drinks was very good, the bartender made a purple drink for me and it was really good:):). Our room was very close to the pool so i did use it a few day:) Kingston was HOT!!... I would stay again.

“Pretty Hotel, too bad about the not so friendly staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

Our group of eight stayed here for three nights in mid July/10. We had just come from staying at an all-inclusive in Montego Bay so I was happy to be at a lovely looking, small hotel after being at a large resort. My first impression was the hotel is quite pretty and quaint. However, the front staff were quite unfriendly from the moment we checked in and this was the theme during our stay. The first night we were there we were enjoying the pool and suddenly a large wedding party came into the pool/bar area and while they were polite, we felt we were the intruders/ackward as the wedding guests were dressed to the nines and we're waaaaay underdressed. I think a mention of this by the front desk staff would have been appropriate so we were not taken by surprise. The drinks at the bar were VERY pricey (ouch after the AI). We only ate at the restaurant twice, at least it was complimentary, so I cannot say what theyfood was truly like. What I do know is that the server pretty well scolded us when we asked for some toast that was not delivered. The security is good but overall there was not one person working at this hotel who showed any sort of warmth towards us, and yes, we did tip! On the bright side the rooms were spacious and clean, the pool smaller but clean. I would return BUT I do hope that the owner/management reads this and figures out why their staff are so unhappy, Wages too low? Understaffed? Hmmm....
