“Haiti at its best!!!”

My spouse and I stayed at Kaliko Beach Club for almost a week (October 7th - October 13th). Our stay there was quite pleasant. We enjoyed a little bungalow that was like a home away from home. The place is clean and beautiful, the vegetation is luxurious and breathtaking, the food was great and the staff went beyond what was required to ensure that we had the best stay possible. This is Haiti at its best. A few little things to know before you go... 1) the beach is quite rocky, therefore you’ll need proper beach footwear. 2) There is no TV or radio in the room; we recommend that you bring a small radio or a laptop. I don’t know when I’ll go back to Haiti, but I know where I’ll stay when I do go back, and it’s at Kaliko.

“A great place to stay, north of PAP, on the beach!”

We went there during the last week of April, 2010. The bungaloes are great little rooms, very private, ask for one far from the pool if you need quiet. We had the beach to ourselves. There are plenty of trees to lie in the shade under and listen to the surf, which is enhanced by the rock beach. Since we knew the beach was rocky (another reviewer complained about it!) we took beach shoes and thoroughly enjoyed the clear water unclouded by sand stirred up while we played. I snorkeled down the coast only a few feet from the beach and saw all kinds of tangs, wrasses, reef squid, etc. The dinner menu is great, we had lobster every night. The only setback was no AC during the day due to off-season low occupancy, which only made us spend time relaxing on the beach. We visited another resort down the road and realized we had picked the right place, if only for the friendliness of the staff. I would, and probably will, go there again in a heartbeat.

“Desgusting beach full of stones”

I do not suggest Kaliko Beach Hotel. You go to the beach to be at the beach and you can't because it's full of stones, There is no sand at all. Therefore, it's SO hot that impossible to stay...Swimming pool water very dirty and nobody cleaning the pool.
My suggestion, don't book that hotel.

“Our favorite stop in Haiti”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2009

I would highly recommend a cab ride right from the airport to Kaliko beach resort. the enterance is still a mess but once you are inside the resort, they are really doing a good job. We were there with 2 young boys and they loved it. It was during the middle of the week so it was quiet. It was our favorite place to stay. The "cottages" were adjoining rooms with 2 beds and a pull out couch in each. The electricity and water all worked fine for us. We didn't have one complaint.

“Best hotel value on the north coast”

Avoid weekends if possible when the folks from PAP arrive to clog and pee in the pool. Always request 'chambre independant', otherwise you're at the mercy of the diaspora guy from NY w/ his rap at full volume. Recycled food but very kind staff, all from surrounding hamlets who are paid v. low wages. Even a few dollars upon departure to each of those workers who have assisted the guest in some way during their stay is appreciated beyond measure. I am always astonished during the course of my many visits at the degree to which this kindness is never observed and the cultural insensitivity this inaction reveals. Generator frequently cuts off after noon w/ story about 'no fuel from PAP' as reason. Very wealthy/mercenary Italian owner.
