this hotel is not a new hotel, had changed names few times, so you may find that is not what you expected, but for the price is all rigth, scale 1 to 5 is a 2.

Stayed for 7 nights and was very dubious after reading 1 very scathing review, after booking (isn't that always the way!!!)
Long flight and the transfer bus a bit scabby (But clean). Initial reactions driving from the airport and looking around at 3 or 4 people sometimes riding on motorbikes not good.
However, hotel complex fantastic, our room which I think was 303 was right next to the evening entertainment centre but unless your going to bed before 11:30 it's not a problem. Staff extremeley friendly and funny. Could not fault the food, really really good. May not be a good idea to go on the horse and cart rides as they take you into the country and try and get you to spend your money in their cousins shop!!! A bit threatening. There is a market next to the complex which is good fun. Complex has it's own bar on the beach which is absolutely fantastic and only about 3 minutes walk. A hotel employee then gets you a sun lounger (FREE and no tipping).
Overall I would definately go this complex again, in fact we will go again.
Top tip: You will get bothered on the beach by lots of looky looky men and women when you are still pale - but they are harmless and you get into the spirit of things, just bid them ridiculousy low for their carvings or whatever - quite entertaining.

Myself and my cousin visited the Dom Rep for the second time in March and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Hotetur Hotel. The room we where assigned was great and not what we expected at all, with a separate bedroom and sitting room area. The cleaners we had where really good and would clean round us if we happened to be staying in, which wasn't often. ;-)
As for the entertainment staff, myself and my cousin where bitterly disappointed as they completely ignored us the whole time we where there. If I hadn't approached one of the staff (Will Smith) and asked why they had never talked to us, we would have gone the whole holiday without a word from them. Also some of the reception staff we found where quite rude when we wanted to make calls back to the UK, we where cut of or told a call couldn't be made at that time etc.
The bar staff and restaurant staff where fantastic, and always made us feel welcome. The food was ok, got a bit repetitive after a while but good wholesome food. The restaurant on site (Mangu) was great, make sure you book and have your meal there.
Would I stay here again, it wouldn't be my first choice but if your looking for something basic and value for money that you will find that here.

I have been to the DR in the past, but this was my first time in puerta plata. In the past, i've heared that the beaches were more of a brown colour, and that the water was not that nice, but WHAT A SUPRISE when i arrived. The beach had almost white sand (not like cancun but very nice) and the water great. The beach was very clean, and just a 3 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel had a lot of entertainement (day and night) and the food was prety good for the DR. It is a nice place for the kids, but i went there with a friend, and we had a great time. There are two bars at walking distance, one is right across the street (coco bongo). since the trip was so cheep 849 tx inn, it was the best trip for the $ that i have been to. I'm planing to go back next year with the kids. If you are thinking about going, don't hesitate, GO.
