“Not bad.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2008

Check in takes a while. Front desk is very helpful but people in DR take their time.
Excellent service for cabs. Safe.
Resturants are pricey but the food isnt bad.
The rooms are nice. I would suggest upgrading to a balcony. They view is what the hotel is all about.
Dont walk around alone at night. Daytime is ok.

Dont take any recommendations for clubs from the front desk.

“Horrible Nightmare”

this hotel is like an old plantation run down. birds nests in the rooms, bathroom has mold, rust, dirt, carpets look like grand central stattion. this hotel is just horrible and would be considered a crackhouse hotel in new york city. i stayed one night for $78.00. what a rip off. place needs to be closed to tourism. Dominicans need to upgrade these sort of flop houses. never again. do not go there even for a funeral.

The double room was sold at usd.55.00 but before leaving the hotel other charges have been debited and total amount per room per night was abt usd.86.00. Three nights abt usd.258.00. The reception also charged a deposit of abt usd. 258. that means they charged twice and now it will take abt 40 days to get the money back!!!

“Beware of the many Taxes!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2004

Booked online a double room from Nov. 20 thru 27th. at an internet booking site for $55.00 per night plus local taxes. Was terribly surprised at checkout time with a $64.17 room rate plus; $11.67 per day for energy charge, $10.27 room charge tax of 16% and $6.32 or 10% for hab room charge. To top it off at the end of the bill was added a 10% gratuity. Total bill for 7 nights was $654.82. My complaints were promptly ignored, so beware of the price switch.
The noisy air condittioning in the ceiling froze up several times and had to be turned off to thaw out, electricity went on and off several times during the day and the AC did not cool during generator operation, towels were taken in the morning and returned in the evening, location was not very convenient to any restaurants or shoppping areas, unless you took their overpriced taxi at the front of the hotel.
The advertisement describes a bar, a restaurant, a night club and a pool. None of these were
realy there and operating all the time and the pool had a distinctive green color to it. My advice stay away from there and go to a international chain, where service and price will be compatible with the charges.

“I am a repeat customer at this Hotel!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2002

My first experience with this Hotel was in January, 2002. In this year I've stayed at the Continetal 6 to 7 times. I found the hotel to provide all the basics for the right price. It has a restuarant with a simple menu, a bar well stocked, a pool not used by many - mostly occupied by business people. Rooms are average(double beds only) but clean, AC is good, TV, room service is good. If you are looking for an inexpensive Hotel in the center of the city -near everything - this is the place. It has parking and its only two blocks from the Malecon and 5 minutes or less from one of the main Avenues (27 de Febrero). The big hotels with Casinos are a short 5 minute drive away or less. Getting a Taxi is not a problem there is always one parked at the Hotel. The personnel speaks english well and are friendly. Its rated 3 stars I say 1.5-2.
