My husband and I visit Dominica every year or two to visit friends. This trip we stayed for 10 days. Each time we have stayed in a different location, but we'll be returning to Kai Woshe for sure next time. Our host, Jonathan, greeted us late in the evening and went out of his way to prepare a lovely fish feast at that late hour. We opted for the master suite with private bath, but any of the rooms would have been nice. They are clean and comfortable, and the guest house has been built with tall ceilings, lovely huge windows trimmed with dark wood and lace curtains. The verandas are expansive and conducive to delving into a good book or a needed nap, within earshot of the pounding surf at the nearby beach. The grounds are full of native fruit and nut trees, as well as roses and flowering shrubs that waft a pleasant sweet aroma across the lawns. Our host was a wealth of information on local plants and things to do. The food was mostly local, fresh, delicious, and prepared in wonderful ways, like fresh rosemary chicken cooked in a local ginger shandy with cabbage, dasheen, and locally baked toasted rolls for accompaniments. There is a large living room offering leather couches and satellite TV so you can catch up on the news or a movie. The separate bar and restaurant building is most interesting, made of stone and local woods by the owner himself and fully stocked. The cost is very reasonable for the amenities. There are wonderful roads and paths to walk, with horses and livestock grazing here and there. Birds of all kinds sing all around you and hummingbirds are busy at the flowers. You can catch the bus down the road to visit other parts of the island. We arrived as strangers and left feeling like family, and we highly recommend the Kai Woshe when you visit Dominica.
