“won't go back”

My wife and I and our two kids stayed at this resort in March of 2011. There is a new tower at the resort and I spoke with people who stayed in different rooms in different locations and they told me the following:
a) the side facing the resort enjoys the fresh smell of a sewer.
b) the expensive side facing the ocean directly, enjoys the disco that opens at 10 pm and closes at 3:00 am.
c) the side facing away from the resort enjoys the sound of new resort being built about 50 yards away.

We stayed in the Pelican buidling - it was the best because it was away from all of the noise. However, our room had mold on the ceiling and felt constantly damp.

The food was adequate but nothing to write home about.

The service looked great for the locals, but as a guest it really lacked.

Curocao itself is a great island - choose another resort.

Room Tip: Stay away from the tower and ask for the Pelican building - hopefully, no mold

“good diving resort(all-inclusive) for the price ...wont go back”

we took a group of 18 divers with us to Curacao for Holiday last may for 10 days. The resort was ok. the food was good but the drinks were few and far between EVEN WATER.. we always asked for 3-5 at a time as they gave them to you in a very small glass . The adult drinks were 1 shot limit(resort rules) very bad idea and the employees would get fired if they caught them giving you more.
The rooms were kept clean and the beach in front of the resort was very nice. There is not a lot to do at night the shows end around 9 ish.
Our favorite night was when they opened all the restaurants and you could sample the food. DINE IN THE PRIVATE RESTAURANTS make resevations early!!!!
The diving was ok not like the reviews state we were dissapointed with the mushroom forest. The dive guides really did not show you much they mostly where in there own world. That said they were very nice just did not seem very knowledgable of the dive sites unlike other places we have traveled...I would not hesitate to go if you have not been to curacao at least once. We will not go back again

Room Tip: ask for ocean front

“Burglaries, raw food, forced to leave resort 6 hours early.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Met 4 couples who were robbed - one right on the beach as they laid there! Security does nothing. Didn't feel safe. Know of several people who got raw chicken, burgers, and fish - they are not careful with food. (I got a raw burger but threw it away) Several people had illnesses as a result of this (likely) and knocked 2-3 days off their vacation because of carelessness of the resort food-prep staff. If you are going for a quiet time DO NOT STAY at the Royal tower - they have ongoing construction right beside the hotel there, night club is in that building at it isn't quiet, and it's right next to the booming speakers that blast terrible music all day long. We were forced to go on the airport shuttle 6+ hours before the flight took off. What a rotten thing to do at the end of someone's vacation. The airport check-in staff wasn't even open, so we had to wait in line (standing) for 2 hours, and then another 4 hours for the flight. Breezes blamed Sunquest, Sunquest blamed Breezes. Nothing was done. I will never use Sunquest again, ever. Check out of the hotel was done by a miserable person (Jo-Ann I think was her name) No smile, no thanks, no appreciation - just - 'You are checked out now.'

Room Tip: You won't get a good room unless you ask for upper floor, Pelican or Flamingo. DO NOT let them...

“Less than average experience”

They had some issues with our reservation upon arrival. When they did find us a room we entered and found it to be occupied. The couple was in bed! That was a bad start. The manager did put us in an ocean front room as they were pretty embarrassed. The day after we were quickly whisked away to a much less well equipped room.

The rooms, even the nicer ones, weren't entirely clean. They smelled like sunscreen and there was sand and mildew in the bathrooms when we arrived. The beds weren't entirely comfortable either. The grounds on the other hand were beautiful and the beach was nice. The beach is man made and does seem unnatural to me. The food was decent and the drinks were watered down.

We enjoyed traveling to other beaches on the island tremendously so if you don't rent a car you're missing out. All of the good beaches were about 1 hour away. I really would stay on the other end of Willemstad if I were to do it all over again. I found the beaches and water in particular in Curacao to be some of the best I've seen. The island is interesting and I may eventually go back, just not to Breezes.

“Better than what we expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We read a lot of reviews about Breezes Curacao. The reviews were for the most part not so good. My wife and I travel often and for the most part we loved it. The resort for the money was very good. The rooms and food were fair. The staff at the check in desk were not real friendly. But, they our only issues. The maid, bar staff, and entertainment staff were very friendly. We expecially want to point out our maid; Graciellia( I think), bartenders Norma and Gigio, entertainment staff members Tiffany, Leo, and Naida. They were all real friendly. They knew us by name and treated us as friends. That left a lasting impression on us. We read that the Hobie Cats were hard to get. That was not the case at all, and we were there at a busy time( the place was packed). The Buffet was alright. the Italain and Japanese restaraunts were very good. The bars were busy at times. They could have used more bar tenders during the evenings. The drinks were for the most part good. The only beer they had was Amstel. It was alright, but I wish they offered Amstel Light. The rum was very good. The tequillia was not so good. They had Crown Royal Whiskey, which was pretty good. They had daily drinks that were prettty good. The gym was pretty good. It was better than the gym on the cruise ships i"ve been on.The island itself was kind of poor, but the the resort and Willemsted were very nice. This is not a 5 star resort, but for the money, it is great. My wife and I don't usually go to a vacation spot twice because we like to see different places, but we would love to go back to Breezes, Curacao. We again would love to thank Graciellia, Norma, Gigio, and expecially Tiffany, Leo, and Naida. I would also like to add that we met several new friends while we were there.
