“Wonderful Stay”

I stayed at the hotel in mid Jan. The staff and hotel manager were the most helpful and friendly team I have ever encountered in a hotel. The staff were also wonderful to my 8 year old son who was encouraged to join in poolside games.

Entertainment was superb. There was an excellent choice of food.

I was really pleased with the "extra efforts" put into to our stay, for example, champagne and canapes given to us by the hotel manager just before our departure. I would definately recommend this hotel as a great place to stay!!

“VERY pleasant surprise:)”

We arrive on jan 9-16 with our 2 children ages 5 and 9.

Check in was quick and smooth. The first bungalow that we were assigned to had an army of termintes climbing on the wall so on the next day we transferred to another bungalow on the second floor. Thanks claudia and annao Our bungelow was kept clean and was newly renovated. One critisim, the room need new bed and furniture.

A big hello and thank you to Dejan the gracious Gm. He is approachable, personable! You rock! You are an amazing leader and it shows.

Let's talk about the food. For cuba standards it is excellent. Where do I begin.. The bread is freshly baked, still warm and outstanding. Nice crust. Flavorful sauteed large prawn. This resort has beautiful delicate baby green leaf, romaine, english cucumber, spanish onion, corn, stilton cheese , reggiano parmesan.. The food stations are kept very clean and the kitchen staff are very pleasant to the guest. The tainos kitchen team should train the kitchen staff at the lagua azul how to cook ! This food had flavor, well executed and staff cooked from the heart compared to the lagua azual where the food was bland, serious fly problem at the buffet.

The chiildren enoyed the lucys club and the mini disco club.

We were very well supply with drinks from the waiters at the pool.

We went on a trip to havan and i booked it with sunwing. Family of 4 cost us $250 from 8am-7pm. The guide was knowledgable but i could have taken a taxi for $150.

This resort has excellent service and we shall return in june.

“2nd time almost as good as the 1st!”

- Great resort! Small enough that nothing is a long distance walk.

- Beautiful Beach; Sparkling Clean Pool; Good Food (A little repetitive though!)

- The only thing that would have made it perfect, would be if the "other" visitors would be considerate of those around them. I understand you weren't raised in "POLITE" Canada, but have some manners people! Wait your turn, Lower the volume, etc. etc.

- Star Friends (Entertainers) rock! Get to know them, and you're vacation time will improve vastly!

- Guys if you like to play soccer (football if you're European!) make sure you bring your runners and join Fernando, Julio, and others at the tennis courts (Usually starts around 5:30 pm)

- Most visitors to Cuba bring items to hand out that they no longer want or need. ie. Clothes, Shoes, Makeup, Toiletries, Toys, School Supplies, etc. Everyone in Cuba appreciates anything little thing you have for them: The Maid, The Bartender, The Entertainers, etc. BUT... We've chosen to bring items for the kids in the orphanage in Matanzas. (Matanzas is where most of the resort staff live and is about 40 minutes from Varadero). No one there speaks English, so this time we took our friend Elvis (Star Friend) with us to translate. Let just say it was a very moving experience for Elvis, and he wants you all to know, that if you're interested in going to the Orphanage, he'd be more than happy to go with you!!! (And if you choose to stay at a different resort, that's not a problem! I can give you his contact info!)

Enjoy the sun and sand!

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room that is NOT at the front of the hotel. Buses come and go all day and n...

“Another Fantastic Holiday At the Tainos”

We stayed at this resort from Jan. 21 - Feb. 4. We had an amazing time last year when we stayed to this same resort that we decided to visit Tainos again for 2 weeks this year. We were very surprised that the staff still remembered us and welcomed us with hugs. Giselle, the guest services rep, was very helpful all the way. She booked us the room that we requested upon booking and made sure we had a bottle of welcome rum in our room upon arrival.

The rooms look very tired but clean and comfortable. There were many options when it comes to food and we never went hungry (my husband loved the guava squares).

Overall, we had an amazing stay thanks to the friendly and helpful staff (from the resort manager to the servers, bartenders, housekeepers, gardeners, security guards, and porters). We will be introducing friends and families to Tainos as we're already considering a third visit nex year.

“Iberostar Tainos - Awesome Trip! Jan 28th - Feb 4th 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We just returned from an awesome vacation at Iberostar Tainos. I had emailed the resort ahead of time to request a Bungalow, but our request couldn't be honoured until the 3rd night of our trip. That being said, we had the luxury of being able to stay in both the hotel and the bungalows. We had initially stayed in the 2nd Floor of the hotel facing the pool - Suite 1217. We loved the spacious balcony and how peaceful the hotel was. The room was exceptionally clean and everything was maintained perfectly. When we moved to the bungalow, in Suite 3703, we lost the scenic view as we faced the noisy parking lot of the neighbouring hotel and because we were located on the lower level, we were disturbed by chairs being moved across the floor and high heels worn at 6am by our neighbours upstairs. (Be careful of what you wish for). We ended up preferring our initial room by the following day. This didn't really affect our trip as we only spent time in the room late at night, going to bed anyways. On a positive note, we were excited about the beautiful grounds, buffet, restaurants and bars. It is a smaller resort, but the customer service was the best we've seen in Cuba. Every little detail was taken care of and the people treat you to the best there. The entertainment was 100% better than the other 2 resorts I've been to. There were the authentic Cuban bands and "Star Friends" that played games, volleyball, interacted and taught dance lessons to keep you busy. The most impressive thing that impressed me and I'm not a hotel "show" type was the professional dance troop/singing shows at nite. They were excellent! Iberostar definitely went up and above for those shows. We spent a great deal of time at the beach - there were plenty of shady umbrellas to lay back and relax after a great dip in the ocean. It was awesome. The pool was just as great with plenty of loungers for everyone. The bars were well equipped and provided a variety of cocktails, my favourite being the rum cocktails. If you go there, you'll remember the great food, restaurants, entertainment, nice people you meet, friendly staff and Elvis. You'll definitely figure out who he is by the end of your trip. You'll have a smile on your face when you think of him. I know we did! :) Will we return to Iberostar Tainos? Definitely. I may take a break from Cuba for a couple years, but I know when I do return, I'll be booking with Tainos again! Thanks for the great memories and we'll see you again soon!

Room Tip: We had a room on the 2nd floor facing the pool of the hotel that we found really nice! The bungalow...
