The casa is a beautiful home and Lily is very welcoming. There was a misunderstanding when we arrived as she had gotten out dates wrong but she arranged for us to stay on the floor above in a different casa for the 1 night until our room was free. You can also eat a wonderful breakfast on the balcony overlooking the sea. Lily can speak English very well and is very helpful. The rooms are nice and simple. The only downside was the location as it was a bit of a trek to the center. There is a hop on hop off sightseeing bus that stops nearby but it does go around the houses. Also make sure you get your visas back before you leave, we had the unfortunate situation of remembering we hadn't been given them back on route to the airport. On the whole though I'd recomend this lovely casa.

There are plenty of places to stay in Havana, so I recommend you find somewhere else to stay. We stayed there for two nights -after the first night we had no water (shower, toilet, sink), and we were told to leave after the second night because the bathroom was falling into the floor below. All of this was not their fault, but the "gentleman" who explained it to us was not very polite. When we told him we'd had no water, he accused us of lying, and threatened to call the police. Lilly herself was nice, but we had no contact with her other than when we paid for our two nights. There are nicer, friendlier places in the same location, and our next casa was wonderful. The hosts Sandra, Lilliam and Ramon are fantastically friendly and helpful, and the view from the flat is arguably one of the best in Havana. The flat is in a tall building on Avenida de Los Presidentes, just a short walk away from the University and the Hotel Nacional in scenic, lush and quiet Vedado. There's internet access in the lobby of Hotel Presidente across the road, where the tourist bus stops (more convenient than it sounds) and there's always taxis available.

I stayed at Casa Lilly for more than a month, and will definitely stay there again the next time I'm in Havana. Always felt confident my things were safe in the room, and completely at home. Great room with private bathroom.

This isn't a hotel, rather a private home which are known as casa particulares in Cuba. Renting out their home is one of the only legal private enterprises Cubans can be involved in, and you'll find many casas available for foreigners to rent.. Both Lilly and her dad speak english, and they provide as much or as little information on havana or cuba that you would like.

I paid $35 CUC, and $5 CUC for breakfast. I got my own room, ensuite bathroom, and hanging out in the living area was very comfortable. The balcony wraps around, so you'll get great views of the Malecon, and the surrounding neighborhood.

The casa is about a 20 min walk from Revolution Square, 10 min from Lennon Park, 10 min from the Hotel National, and 10 min from the Coppelia (great ice cream) You aren't far from Old Havana - a very short taxi ride - and this casa provides a nice, quiet retreat from the bustle of Old Havana.

The Lilly and her family are involved in film, and they speak english very well. They will arrange for baseball games, and other events, so just ask them. Their site is http://www.casalilly.com/ (they have photos posted).

Just to note, I had stayed at Saratoga Hotel on another trip, and it was fantastic. This was equally as great because I could meet and mingle with the locals. If you want that experience, or simply to spend alot less on accommodation, Casa Lilly is terrific.
