“Quite a Gem”

We went for 3 days and stayed 10. Having stayed at two other Elegant Hotels firstly the saddly gone Coconut Creek followed by 4 stays at Tamarind Cove there is no doubt that The House for us is the best.
It is laid back but at the same time the staff are on the ball to ensure you get what you want when you want it especially Joanna who is a class act as regards customer relations.
We had a look at the refurbished room and if all the rooms are finished to the same level The House can only improve.
We may have benn lucky but the guests helped to make the holiday being a quite gregarious group mailnly from GB.
Its not cheap but we can recomend it.

Room Tip: 2nd/3rd floor for views

“We loved it so much we have already booked for 2013...”

Although we have visited Barbados three times previously, this was our first stay at The House. We selected it based on previous generally excellent reviews on Tripadvisor, the great beach location, the proximity to Daphnes (our favourite restaurant in Barbados) and the general friendly welcome and chilled-out vibe that we felt when we were shown around the hotel on a previous visit. We loved the breakfasts - plenty of choice and plenty of it (including champagne if you fancy it). The beach loungers are comfortable and well-positioned and the chilled bottled water in the morning, lollies in the afternoon and cold flannels and fresh fruit are a very nice touch. Our room was very nice (garden view suite), had everything we needed and we're looking forward to staying in it again next year once it - as well as all other rooms - has been refurbished. Dont miss half-price cocktails at Daphnes between 5 and 7 - great way to watch the sun go down...and do book a cabana on the beach for dinner with the sand between your toes. The staff however really do make the experience what it is - Joanna is lovely and extremely efficient and the ambassador system really works well. I did initially wonder how it would work (ie having no main reception) but they are ever-present and always happy to advise, book, bring you another glass of rose etc etc. To name but a few, Andrew, Agnes, Jennifer, Shawn, Kerri, Anthony, Jamal and Antonio. They made our stay extra special. Lovely casual atmosphere to meet other guests over the Manager's cocktail party on Wednesday if you are up for it. Watch out for the killer rum punches! Fisherman's Night on Tuesday was also delicious. Cant wait to go back....

“Wonderful”

I stayed here in September 2010 with my boyfriend. This place is amazing. Not only is it completely peaceful and serene but the room and view were better than you could ever wish for. We had a one bedroom suite which was huge and overlooked the ocean. The pool is small but never crowded and the loungers on the beach were the perfect way to spend the day with staff bringing over something new every few hours from fresh fruit to water to ice lollies. Breakfast which was included was absolutely delicious with an excellent selection, my boyfriend was most impressed with the egg station. Even though we had four or five breakfasts here it never got old. The daily afternoon tea which was also included was an excellent touch and always filled us up. A couple of times we had drinks and snacks in the evening too which were of course, delicious. We ate at the restaurant a couple of times and like the rest of Barbados, drinks and food are expensive. I remember being most impressed with the flying fish however. We also ate at Daphne’s on site once which was again expensive but a fantastic experience start to finish from the espresso martinis to the delicious desserts. What a location for a restaurant, right on the beach front. Unforgettable. It is also noteworthy that this is an adults-only resort so perfect for some peace and quiet. We found that a wander up and down the road took us to some cheaper restaurants and shops where we could buy beers and take back to our room for less than half the price of the restaurant bar and it was only a short taxi ride into Bridgetown where we did some shopping. Would love to return here – it’s expensive but definitely worth it!

Room Tip: The rooms with a balcony overlooking the beach at the top were the best. However, the inward facing...

My wife and I spent a week at The House earlier this month (Jan 2012). It was our first trip to the Carribean, let alone Barbados, so we were relieved that our hours of research paid off. The location, staff/Ambassadors, ambience, beach, facilities, food, pampering, etc were all spot on, and the choice of restaurants on Barbados was exceptional. In agreement with others, the rooms certainly do need updating, but per Marco's comments it would appear that this is planned. We will certainly return (once the rum has fully worked through my system!!!).

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room, which was fine, but the better looking rooms seemed to be those on the 1...

“2nd Trip as relaxing & enjoyable as 1st”

We discovered this hotel 8 years ago whilst on our honeymoon - many a day we would walk past on the beach and say how inviting it looked.............

In 2009 we returned to Barbados for our anniversay and with our honeymoon hotel having been turned into apartments we chose The House for our celebrations.

We were blown away with everything The House had to offer from the exquisite food at Daphnes to the excellent service provided by the Ambassadors, not to mention the superb beach front location - we had a great week.

So great that we returned for our 2nd visit again on our anniversay last year.

We were not disappointed, thanks to Marco and his team it was like returning home. Special thanks going to Tremaine, Agnes and Rachel and a much deserved thanks to Marco himself for his hospitality and openess regarding the future refurbishment plans.

For all those reading previous reviews please don't be put off visiting The House by negative comments. Look at the positives, the excellent staff are what fully made our holidays. Marco has shown us the plans for the refurbishment they look fantastic and they will complement the very high standard of service this establishment already offers.

We can't wait to return and see the new look........
