“Nice option on an Expensive Island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2009

Overall the stay was nice. The room was a 1970's style, with not much updated, but it served its purpose. The bed was nice and comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook, and the bathroom was. The pool was very small and unheated, but for a small cottage, it was fine. There are lounge chairs to use and there is a fire pit for grilling if you desire. There is not a beach here, you will have to travel for that. What was nice, is there is a grocery store nearby (walking distance) so you can pick up supplies for your stay. We stayed here two days and then moved to Elbow Beach for the rest of our week in Bermuda. Elbow beach is beautiful, buy you pay double the price. Overall the island is very expensive. Expect to spend about double for anything you would in the states - food, gas, dining out, clothes - it is all expensive. For someone on a budget, this is a great place to stay.

“perfect relaxation spot”

Ideal location, Easy walk into Hamilton. Bus stop very nearby as is convenience store for beverages etc... Nothing fancy, but all you need for natural beauty and relaxation. Hanging out in the pool overlooking the ocean - or snorkeling a few steps from your door - what more do you need to forget about the rest of your world for a few days. Good e-mail communication with hosts, but could benefit from easier to find website and contact info. On the other hand, it's nice having this place a little bit of a secret. On site inernet access would be good, as well as some plastic drinkware (instead of glass) for a drink by the pool. Market in town has nice food bar if you don't want to spend a ton eating out all the time.

“Beautiful & Quiet, a joy to come home to.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

We just got home from our honeymoon, 8 nights in Bermuda, all of them at Mazarine. We had a wonderful experience! A beautiful, well taken care of little hotel right on a small cliff over the ocean. The housekeeper, Dahlia, was a joy and took very good care of us. We stayed in room #7, which is the little detached cottage, and it was fantastic. A proper queen bed (not the 2-twin "kings" that are so common), a nice little kitchenette, lots of privacy, and a beautiful view of the ocean.

Helpful Mazarine Notes:
No internet access.
Only 7 rooms.
There is almost never anyone at the office, and rarely any staff at all. Dahlia takes great care of the rooms and and outdoor areas, but besides her you are pretty much on your own.
Just a couple minutes north of the city of Hamilton, with easy access, but in a quiet area. (100% of Bermuda is urban, so this is about as quiet as it gets. But very pleasant.)
Take a taxi for your arrival. Mazarine can arrange for a taxi with the driver having your room key. About $25 each way from the airport. (Before tip.)
Not really a B&B, in that there is no breakfast. (no meals at all.) Not a criticism, but the classifications on tripadvisor might suggest it is a B&B.
There is a little grocery about 1/2 block away, but it's not open late. (Few places are open late in Bermuda.)
We used a scooter and loved it. No need to book ahead, just call Wheels and they'll deliver one to you very quickly.
House of India is THE best restaurant on the islands, but be forewarned that it is a small hole-in-the wall and they take their spice seriously.
Rooms do have AC, which is a requirement in the summer.

Overall I would heartily recommend Mazarine to anyone but the loud party crowd. (I don't really want them fouling up my little oasis.) Great for families, honeymoons, etc.

“Peaceful, Quiet, Charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2009

I stayed here for a week on business. It is a quiet, serene small inn with fantastic ocean views. I felt totally refreshed relaxing on the private balcony after a long day. There was a nice kitchenette to cook simple meals and basic utensils. The bed was extremely comfy. My understanding is the rates are also excellent compared to other hotels. The private pool was sparkling and fresh (though not heated). The only thing that could be improved is that there is no internet access at all, not even dial up. This probably bothered me more due to this being a business trip, and I'm sure it would not have been an issue had I been solely on vacation. The location is also ideal, just outside of Hamilton and it's very easy to catch transportation around the island from the inn (Bermuda is one of the only places that does not allow rental cars). Overall, delightful stay at a charming place.

“40th anniversary!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2008

Marshall and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary - in Bermuda - at Mazarine.. We are budget conscious travelers and found everything just to our liking! Scooters were our transportation - yes, we can still ride, and we recommend them as they provide the most independent, and the most fun way to travel. We were only 10 minutes to Hamilton, and 2-3 minutes to the variety store, which has everything for snacks, lunches, newspapers etc. It's good to get the local papers to see what is going on - we attended a great church, Cornerstone, though an advertisement. Mazarine is literally a few feet from the ocean, we snorkeled, swam in the pool, fed the ocean fish - it was perfect. Delia, the housekeeper, is literally the best, also. You will not be disappointed! Cheryl & Marshall Evans, Greer, S.C.
