We chose Oxford House for it's excellent location in Hamilton. Close to both the efficient ferries and central bus station. It is also convenient to a variety of restaurants, a major plus in Bermuda. Dining is very expensive. Hotel staff recommended a few pubs, which were interesting and moderately priced. However, on Friday nights, they are packed with local young professionals. Plan to eat elsewhere on Fridays
Oxford House is well maintained and managed. It is not a B&B with a lot of interaction with the owner, but the continental breakfast is high quality and generous. Beds are comfortable, but pillows were not. Bathrooms, showers only, are well stocked and spotless but tiny. The smallest I've ever encountered and probably not acceptable for oversized guests.

Room Tip: Most rooms are good size and airey, but a couple .

“Just like home sweet home...”

This is my fourth stay at the Oxford House.
I have read about the previous comments from other guests' and I don't
believe in judging people based on what other people say.
The staff and Mrs. Smith were very accommodating with me and tried their best
to accommodate my request when I needed a place to stay.
From my few conversations with Mrs. Smith, it was sad to note that she lost her
son and grandson within a week. I lost a brother in a car accident, so I can relate.
She started to converse with me' because I did not avoid her' but rather,
I showed kindness and I got it. Overall, all the staff were very accommodating, they are even willing to do laundry for me, when I asked for it. Sometimes I have to go to the kitchen if I am late for breakfast, and they did not mind. All the beds I slept were comfortable (I stayed at least 4 different rooms), I did not have any problem of sleeping at Oxford House.
Thank you to Mrs. Ann Smith, Faye, May and Baby. From, Mrs. Carmen Calaway. Apr'09.

Was reading some reviews of Oxford house...hard to believe I stayed at the same house-

We (4 rooms) found the staff to be so very accomodating and friendly...even the owner chatted with us. Rooms were most comfortable Breakfast was great! Altho we 4 boys were in Bermuda on a personal but party holiday, it was nice to get back to the 'house late at nite...no lectures about being bad!
Hope the owner gets in touch when she vacations in Nova Scotia.

“Home from home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2008

The First thing to bear in mind is the location of Bermuda, in the middle of the Atlantic, so everything is expensive, especially hotels, so normal prices go out of the window, here you have a guest house on Hamiltons door step, all the rooms have been refurbished to a good standard and good size rooms, like all guest houses the front door is locked at night, but you have your own key, but more importantly there is no old battleaxe here but very helpful and friendly staff, willing to help with directions.
Breakfast is a continental type and self service so you can have as much or as little as you like. internet access is good, but @ 10.00 US a day, and each room is fitted with showers no baths, as the bathrooms are small, but as mentioned the main rooms have plenty of space and cable tv.
Location is ideal as you are minutes away from everything there is a scooter rental a few doors down the road as you are not allowed to rent a car in Bermuda, do not worry there are plenty of alternatives there is a good regular bus service all over the island as well as a good ferry service, best of all reasonably priced, i would recommend getting a weekly pass or however you are there for even better value, they even have Blue or pink posts by the bus stop to indicate if the bus is going to or coming from Hamilton.
you are also on the very edge of town only 100 yards away from the front with its many shops and restaurants, there is also a good pub, just come out of the guest house turn left and just around the corner called Robin Hood pub, closer by than another good sports Bar called O'Flanagans right on the front upstairs, suggest getting there early if you want to admire the view while eating but several good places to keep you happy.
one important thing to note most places close down for the winter months, and temperatures could go down to as low as 50 degrees fahrenhite, i know this is the lowest as it reached this while i was there, but as i was coming from England and the snow at the time it was still warmer, but you may wish to pack a couple of warmer clothes.
Enjoy!

Just returned from a amazing trip to Bermuda. The Oxford House is comfortable (rooms are simple ((no frills)) but nice and cool), convinent (the location cannot be beat), and very affordable. However, the owener/staff are not extrememly helpful or polite. The staff warms up, once you stop asking questions. On the plus side, the hotel allowed us to spend a lot more monies at wonderful restaurants (Newport Room, Waterloo House, Fresco's) and allowed us great access to Hamilton.
