“Aruba beautiful Holiday Inn old and dated,”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Stayed here in October 2011. We upgraded to a superior room, god help anyone staying in standard room. First room was very smelly, had not been decorated for years, old furniture very grubby decor. We were moved to another room which was a little cleaner but still in need of decorating. Food was awful in both restaurants, we tried on several occasions and it did not improve. The main restaurant was a cross between Ikea and a works canteen. Breakast was ok, lunch was sometimes edible, evening meal forget it. Go out. Beach was beautiful. Drinks were almost non alcolholic. If you like to go on expensive holiday and get a 1 - 2 star rating go here. We did ask Thompson rep to move us to another hotel we are still waiting for his help.

Room Tip: Try another hotel.

“great place for a vacation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

I had never been to Aruba before and this trip was one of the best. Everything about the hotel was magnificent. The food choices at the buffet were changing every night. We could eat at the smaller restaurant just a stone's throw from our hotel building. Everything was within walking distance to the beach, pools and casino. I definitely would recommend this hotel to my friends and family, if a discount vacation, all inclusive package was offered, take it and have a great time. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. If the opportunity arises again, I would go back with my friends.

Room Tip: When we arrived, we were placed on the 6th floor, found out there is an elevator and we rather liked...

I would not hesitate to go back to this resort. Great bang for your buck, if you get a selloff as I did. The beach was stunning and spotless. Although the Hotel is showing its age, it has been kept in pristine condition. The room was in the Curacao Tower, on the sixth floor, with a partial view of the beach that you could see for miles. Our maid kept it very well stocked and spotless. The pool was also very clean. We went all inclusive and the food was wonderful with lots of choices at the buffet. Shopping is at your doorsteps, so if you have problems with walking, like I do...you just have to cross the street to shop.and there are stores right in the main lobby....and everything is within close proximity..There is a casino on the premises as well, with bingo every night.. Don't hesitate and just book it..you will not be disappointed...Have a great vacation....

“Great Value and Location”

My husband and another couple just returned from a week-long stay at the Holiday Inn with an all-inclusive package. The location is terrific, just 5 minutes from our room to the beach. It is also very close to shops and other restaurants. Our room (5557) was basic with a shower, very clean and the bed was comfortable. It had all the amnenities we needed, TV, alarm clock, frig and safe (not large enough for a laptop). There are three restaurants and the bar/grill at the beach. We were there during the off-season so all of the restaurants were not open every night, but that did not hamper our dining experience. There were several choices that made everyone happy. The breakfast buffet has a wide range of choices which include made to order omlets or fried eggs. Caution to all-inclusive you must choose their island beer Balashi or pay a sur-charge which ranged from $2-4. Rum based drinks for the ladies were great. I would definately go again and not hesitate to recommend this location to anyone.

“Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

My husband and I just returned from a 6 night stay at the Holiday Inn. The location is great, the grounds are well-maintained, and the beach is beautiful. While the exterior of the hotel is very dated, we had no complaints regarding the room -it was large, clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent - I never had to ask for wash cloths or towels, which isn't usually the case. On our first night, we realized that there was a problem with the A/C. We couldn't adjust the temperature and woke up freezing. After reporting the problem to the front desk, we headed out for breakfast a couple of blocks away. Upon our return less than an hour later, maintenance was in our room, finishing up the repair. The staff was very friendly, with the exception of a couple of concierge staff, and one really rude female bartender at the Iguana Bar. I would say that the most disappointing thing was the one meal that we had at the hotel. We were on the European plan (no meals included), but the Holiday Inn does offer an All-Inclusive Plan. We've been quite pleased with the food at All-Inclusive Resorts in Mexico so we decided to stay in one night and eat at the buffet. The cost for dinner was around $23 pp. I would have expected a decent selection of food, but was really disappointed. It was very limited and very mediocre. The dining room for the buffet meals (Corals Restaurant) looks like a school cafeteria with it's orange plastic chairs. It was really the only sub-par meal we had our entire trip. All in all, we had a good stay at the Holiday Inn. It is a good value for the money.
