“The Highligh of our Vacation”

We absolutely loved this tour and it was worth every penny. Elton, the sub driver, was very helpful and super nice. However, when they say there are no bathrooms on board, they were not kidding, so plan accordingly for that 45 minutes you're under water. You can hardly tell the sub is diving or surfacing so for those who would love to dive but can't clear their ears, this is a great alternative. We saw a huge 4'-5' barracuda haning out in the wheel house of one of the ship wrecks, 5 lion fish around the ship wreck, a very big green eel peeking out of the deck of the same ship wreck, a large sea turtle, a reef, 2 ship wrecks, and a lot of friendly angel fish. You can use a normal camera without flash and the pics posted do it justice. The sub holds 48 people comfortably and lots of port holes to see out of and yes we did sit on the sea floor briefly at 130' down. Try to get near the front of the sub though if possible (by sitting at the back of the transfer boat on the boarding side). Excellent adventure!

Dear KDHSc –

Thanks for taking the time to report on your trip with Atlantis Submarines. It looks as though you were able to get a view of some of Aruba’s sea gems – nice! It’s reassuring to see comments about our crew, so I’ll be sure Elton is notified.

Many thanks,
Brianna

“Wow!!! What fun!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This tour far surpassed my expectations!!
We were fortunate to sit in the bow of the sub, so had a view not only out our porthole window, but also a view out of the front of the sub. The captain, Gio, even invited some of the passengers to sit us by him to get a better view. We were kept informed the entire time as to our depth (max we attained was 140 feet), what to watch for and the names of the creatures we saw. People on both port and starboard were able to see anything that was exciting because the captain turned the sub around, so all could get a view. It was great fun!!! Don't be afraid of its being claustrophobic; ;it is not. No concern about sea sickness either - very smooth! Don't worry about pressure on our ears. Spend the money and do it!!!

“Everybody Should Do This Once”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Where else can you go for a ride on a submarine? (Okay, so there are 5 other places in the Caribbean operated by this company.) We weren't sure what the experience should be like and so had no expectations. It was safe, there was no pressure to bother ears or sinuses, and there was no feeling of claustrophobia. We saw an amazing array of sponges, fish, and morays. The captain took us down to 133' and sat us on the bottom. Some people might feel there's no excitement here, but we really enjoyed ourselves. Be sure to use the bathroom before boarding the boat as there are no facilities on the boat or on the sub.

“Amazing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

The underwater excursion in a submarine is incredible and worth the money! Great for kids, just don't forget your camera and make sure you know how to turn off the flash! The submarine goes as far down as 135 feet, you will visit the coral reefs as well as some old ship wrecks. It is amazing and great for those who have kids..... If you are claustrophobic I don't suggest it.

“An Unforgetable Proposal (MUST READ)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I just had the most amazing experience in Aruba onboard the Atlantis Submarine. It was my girlfriend and my first trip to Aruba. It had been two years since we had a vacation so this trip had to be special, not to mention I wanted to ask my girlfriend of seven years for her hand in marriage. Not sure how or when the perfect opportunity would present itself I decided to buy two tickets for the highly rated Atlantis Submarine Tour. Sunday morning around 11 am we walked a few short feet from our hotel to the boarding location of the boat that would carry us four miles out to sea to board the Atlantis Submarine. Upon our arrival we were greeted by some of the friendliest people on the face of the planet. They took time to explain the details of the tour and then offered to take our pictures in case we wanted to buy a keepsake after the tour. They assured us that there would be no pressure to purchase the pictures and this was true. After a really quick photo we boarded the boat that would take us four miles out to sea to board the Atlantis Submarine. The crew took time to brief us on the safety precautions of the boat and the Submarine prior to leaving the dock in both Spanish and English. They ensured that we all knew how to properly utilize all the safety equipment on board both vessels. The crew made the safety lessons funny which alleviated any fear or last minute anxiety that may have existed. Because of the outstanding crew of the Atlantis Submarine they have had zero accidents or safety issues. We left the pier for a short very comfortable and relaxing 4 mile ride out to the Atlantis Submarine. We were allowed to walk around the boat and take pictures heading out and coming back from the Submarine. While on the ride to the Submarine I ask one of the crew members what would be the perfect way to ask my girlfriend to be my wife while on the Atlantis Submarine. He said there is a time during the tour when the Submarine will dock at the bottom of the ocean at 130 feet below sea level. He ensured me that it would be quiet enough so that all aboard could hear. He also asked if I would like to use the crews’ headset so that everyone on board would see and hear. I told him that was a great idea. After we arrived at the Atlantis Submarine we were told how to board and to watch our step. The crew offered to let my girlfriend and I board first to ensure I was close enough to the headset to use for the proposal. After everyone boarded safely the hatch was closed and we began to dive. What an amazing experience. The water was very clear. It was a tropical paradise below the sea and the crew of the Submarine Atlantis brought this paradise to us. The ride is about forty five minutes but seemed much longer. The crew commentated in both English and Spanish the entire trip. We got to circle two ship wrecks. This was such an amazing experience. After about 35 minutes we dove to 130 feet as the crew allowed the submarine to dock at the bottom of the ocean. The crew then asked for everyone's attention, introduced me, and presented me with a set of the crews’ headgear which included a microphone. I asked for a moment of everyone's time then introduced my girlfriend. I then lowered myself to one knee and ask for my girlfriend's hand in marriage. She said yes and then everyone onboard the submarine began to clap and cheer. We toured for another ten minutes and then head back to the boat which took us back to the pier in which we boarded. Word of the proposal reached the pier prior to us arriving. The staff at the pier presented everyone on board with Dive Certificates and gave my fiancé and me the picture we took prior to boarding in a very nice picture frame. The people of Aruba are great!!! This would not have been possible if it were not for the amazing staff and crew of the Atlantis Submarine. I please forgive me for not asking for all of the names of the crew but I did get the name of the Captain of the Submarine for that day and his name is Oscar Perez. Oscar is one of 4 or 5 of the amazing crew members of the Atlantis Submarine that assisted me with my proposal and an amazing tour. I did not get the name of the gentleman that orchestrated the entire proposal but my fiancé and I are forever grateful for your assistance. We will come back and share this experience with family and friends very soon. The proposal was very special for my fiancé and me. The trip on the Submarine Atlantis has to be the best experience of my life during a vacation. This was my 45th trip outside of the U.S. and this Tour ranks number one. The trip is worth every penny you will spend and was the most amazing part of our much needed vacation. If you like any of the tours you take while in Aruba although not required or asked you should tip the crew and staff because they work very hard to ensure that you and your family have an unforgettable experience in Aruba.
