“all positive with a few minor blips”

beautiful island....very commercialized though....natives very friendly....take a cab from the airport instead of your tour bus....no waiting for stragglers to board....we took a cab and arrived, checked in, went to our room to change and at the pool before the tour bus arrived.....all for 9 bucks per person cabfare.....genius.....L G Smith steakhouse was all positive....excellent service....private island good for a change....close to shops, port and restaurants.....did all inclusive, well worth it.....lovely pool and setting on the adults side but lots of human traffic through lobby.....the downer parts of the trip were.....one elevator was always, and i mean always broken down.....and secondly, with the all inclusive package, your alcoholic drinks are watered down....we did a test on this with an american we met.....here is what we did....i had one of my "all inclusive" shots of rye....no burn going down, no side affects....i then got two beers on my all inclusive deal, gave them to my american buddy and he bought me a shot of rye from a list that was not all inclusive....the one we paid for burnt properly and warmed the belly.....henceforth, careful with thinking you are getting premium spirits or premium quality.....to further prove my point, on our second last day i just drank straight "all inclusive" rye....all day....at least 10-12 shots in the afternoon and i still remembered my name and was a perfect gentleman at supper.....just drink the beer, they cant mess with that.....rooms need an upgrade....washrooms sad looking....staff was very friendly at the adult pool.....would still go back, just more educated....

“love love this resort”

This is the second time we have been to this resort. Love the private island. Rooms are good for the price and the food quality is excellent. Service is okay. Sometimes it can be great other times not so great even with tipping. We love Havara in the Blue lounge and Loily at the island, she is terrific. We travelled with 10 people and the consensus was everyone is going back. Love the king beds, very comfortable.

“Amazing Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This is the second year we stayed here and it was amazing the second time as well as the first. The staff is so friendly and the service is so good it really makes the trip awesome.

In the Blue lounge particularly, the staff is great. I want to single out Nelson and Sujeiry for their excellent service and mention that Sujeiry even remembered me from the previous year, despite the fact that they see thousands of people.

The location is great because you can walk around and there's lots to see. The boat ride to the private island is always awesome and the best guy for the job is George.

There is excellent snorkelling near the rocks on the beach and I highly recommend it.

“What a great week”

We travelled with 3 other couples - never been to Aruba before. We chose this resort based solely on price, as Aruba can be expensive - got a good deal through the internet, about $200 more than Jamaica last year in Runaway bay, which I thought was a good deal. People are very friendly and helpful, country is safe and no one trying to sell their wears to you on the beach or street. Especially Rosy for breakfast and lunch - she was sooo nice! Pool was great - not huge - but perfect for us. The country is very safe and no one trying to sell their wears to you on the beach or street. The staff at the desk were helpful and accommodating. The Sunquest rep. we had was excellent - Brenda Medina - can't say enough good about her - she really helped make the vacation great. The food was great. Breakfast was what you would expect anywhere, sausage, bacon, eggs, cereal, fruit etc. not huge but enough to satisfy anyone's tastes. Dinner - was some of the best steak and lobster I have eaten at the Steak house, Seafood restaurant was very good too - large salad bar, fresh seafood, also lamb, roast beef etc. etc.. The private beach is great, the grounds are very well looked after. The rooms are a little dated but lets face it - they are for sleeping and changing in. Free WIFI in the lobby - you have to pay in your room. We never had to wait for food, drinks or save chairs like you do every where else. Seemed much more relaxed then everywhere else I have been - like Bahia in Runaway bay last year. There are a number of time share people here which I think reduces the burden in the restaurants etc. Plaza next door with live nightly outdoor entertainment - what a blast - dancing in the streets till morning. Casinos - shopping all within walking distance and more if you take a short bus ride down the shore - for about $2.50 US you catch a bus at the bus depot - about a 10 min walk from the hotel - and you can get anywhere in Aruba from there. If you looking for sports activities on the beach - you wont find much here as the beach is basically man made, however - you can find this at other local beaches. Went on the submarine adventure - really cool going under the sea to 150 feet - amazing pictures too! I never thought I would repeat a resort - but I would here, in a heart beat.

“Literally worst vacation ever.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Let me start by saying we are not difficult to please. I hand out 4 & 5 stars all the time and vacation twice per year for past 10 years. This was by far the most disappointing. Service was non existent and I suspect this is because tips are always baked into the bill. We literally receivef service on the private Island one time from the two wattresses working the ENTIRE island. Rooms were run down. Smelled terrible. Bad location. You get want you pay for...stay anywhere else. This is the only bad review I'm writing as I try to review all of my stays from past 2 years. Sounds mean, but they earned it.
