“basic but brilliant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2010

basic it may be,but a warm welcome awaited us at 5.30 in the morning when we arrived.our room was quite small but had all we needed, after all,we didnt go on holiday to stay in the hotel all day.the breakfast was a bit hit and miss as regards choice, but we never left the hotelhungry in the mornings and the local bread was delivered early every morning and was scrumptious. the dolmus stopped right outside and we were in the town centre in a matter of minutes.just a short ride away is the local market and everyone should visit the temple of apollo at didyma just down the road.what an eye-opener.this is worth going to altinkum just to see it. the staff was full of local knowledge and were really helpful when it came to the best places to visit without it costing a fortune. in fact we had never spent so little and had such a good time. thumbs up to this little gem of a hotel.we booked it through hayes travel and it was a goldtrail holiday. for anyone dithering,,,take a chance.this is andah and david holland wishing visitors a very happy holiday

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2006

Arrived at the Sirena Hotel, which was booked through Goldtrail, early hours of the morning on the 17th October. Didn't look very good, but then it was almost 5 am. Checked in and we were shown to our room which was on the secong floor. No lift so had to climb the stairs. The night manager took mine which was just as well because I don't think I could have managed it as it was a little heavy. Got to the room which was as basic as it could be. OK, the holiday was not expensive, but expected more than this. We are not strangers to Turkey, so understand that things are different here. Let me list the problems..........I used the toilet (ladies first), then my husband needed to 'go'. Unfortunately the cistern did not fill after I had been so he was unable to flush it. It filled up dripping over the next two hours. The balcony door would not lock and the key was jammed in it. It had been 'jemmied' at some point judging by the warped metal of the door. The dressing table was no more than a small mirror on the wall and a shelf with tiny drawer under. That would not have been so bad, but the electric sockets were on another wall completely, so had difficulty seeing what I was doing when using hair styling equipment. This was made even more difficult as the styling equipment had to be held in the sockets as the fit was so loose. The wardrobe..............or should I say the cupboard, measured about 2'6" across, around 10" deep and only about a 4' drop. There was an open shelf above and underneath on the floor. Probably about enough room for a large handbag or a couple of stray cats! Didn't even bother to take anything out of the suitcases. Not a lot of room to move around with two suitcases on the floor. There was one small bedside table between the twin beds with a tiny drawer for us to fight over. Only had about 3 hrs sleep on the first night, so got down to breakfast late. Not a lot left and not impressive. The second morning there were no eggs left at all and the third morning we didn't bother and bought breakfast out. I did complain to the holiday rep when we eventually found where the welcome meeting was being held. It was on our paperwork that it was to be in the Sirena Hotel at 4pm Tuesday, but we were told by other guests that it was in the hotel down the road at 5pm. We went there, bought a drink at the bar, and were then informed again that the meeting was in the hotel acoss the road. Loosing the will to live by this time!! Complained to the rep who said that he could do no more that to take our complaints to the hotel owner. When we arrived back at the Sirena and the owner was waiting to see us, and fair play to him, he did move us into another room. This room was exactly the same layout at the previous one, but this time the balcony door locked, the toilet filled after flushing, the electric sockets were not loose. The twin beds were pushed together making a double, so this gave more room. The wardrobe was still a cupboard so everything remained unpacked. Moved out on the Thursday and stayed elsewhere. No-one else that we talked to there was very impressed either . Will never use the Sirena Hotel or Goldtrail holidays again.

“Cheap but charming”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2006

We stayed at the Sirena for 7 days starting on the 16th Sept 2006. Although the hotel is a little tired we had a great stay. The rooms are basic but what do you expect for the price?. The pool was good and the location is great as it is near to all you can desire, (shops, resturants, beaches etc.) As for the staff!! well they kind of make this place unique as they are very helpful and will join in with you on every occasion, they make it a real home from home, they will also give great advice on the local area. All in all a great budget place to stay and we will return especialy if the proposed improvements are carried out to improve the facilities.

Just got back from the Sirena in Altinkum. When we first arrived in the middle of the night the receptionist could only speak a little english. However we booked in and went straight to bed.Coming through the town on the coach i thought we were in Beirut as i had never been to Turkey before!
The rooms were small and basic but clean, somewhere just to sleep really.Breakfast was cheese, salad and bread ect or you can buy english breakfast for about 3pound.
The staff were great and we had many nights at the bar till the early hours. They helped us to find the nice eating places, bars and they saved us quite a lot of money as some of the places in the seafront are a rip-off and the owner explained how the system is over there.
We will definatley go back again and would recomend it to anyone

“Small, Friendly Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2006

We stayed in This hotel in July 2006 for a week. When we arrived, we were abit unsure, it looked really small and crowded. Its English owned but they had only just taken over from previous owners, so some repairs were being done.

We booked two rooms because there was four of us staying but in one of the rooms a plaster was covering a cracked socket, we reported this to one of the staff and was told that it would be repaired within our stay. They never fixed it. Cant complain about anything else really. Towels and sheets were changed everyday, We were B&B and the breakfast was cereal, toast, jam, honey, bread. The staff were really friendly. I recommend this for a low budget holiday. This hotel is literally 5 minutes away from the nightlife and shops! Also there is a fair which was small but good. I recommend for any young people going to Altinkum that they go to Medusa Club! This Hotel is by The second beach but there is 2 other beaches near by. I'd also recommend a boat trip, great for topping up your tan! I loved Altinkum and I hope you do too!
