We originally booked for four nights in this oasis but extended and stayed 9 nights. It is ideally situated to visit major spots with only the farthest upriver trips dictating that you need other accommodation for a few nights.
Heather and Moses are excellent at ensuring your needs are met and any tours that you require are organised with the minimum of fuss. There are a number of local self guided walks that you can follow. A visit to the crocodile pool and Lamin Lodge is a must.
The food is excellent and chefs Lamin and Alkali do the perfect omelettes and poached eggs in the morning...evening meals are first class and to a very high standard...the butterfish is mouthwatering.
The Lodges are good sized with good facilities and first class standard with solar energy providing constant hot water for the showers. The lack of noisy generators ensures that you can hear the sound of birdsong and at night the bush animals and village drums in the distance ensuring that you know that you are in Africa!
The staff are friendly, helpful and never stop smiling. The groundsmen keep the pool sparkling and the grounds in pristine condition and really do take a pride in this. Nothing is too much trouble. If you love plants then you will be enthralled by the gardens and the wildlife.
We found the perfect place to rest during our extended travelling across West Africa and whilst we are not avid birdwatchers found that even we loved watching the bee eaters and fruit bats around the pool and spotting other birds by sight and sound.
Remember to challenge Moses and the staff to a game of draughts...
