The Panorama Hotel is situated very idyllic. From the restaurant and terrace you have a fantastic vew of the Festung Koenigstein and from the front of the Hotel, Lillienstein. You only have to walk out of the front door and can hike up to Lillienstein,. The Reception, restaurant, breakfast room are tastefully decorated but the rooms !!!
On arrival we were give a room on the third floor in the attic, worn carpet , old furniture and a mini double bed. When we complained we were told that the hotel was full but we would be moved the following day. After dinner we spoke to the Lady of the House again and surprise, surprise a room was availabe on the first floor which had a regular sized double bed. Everything very basic but at least a bed were we could get a good nights sleep. The following morning we queried the fact that we had booked a comfort room of which there are 6 in the hotel and were infomed that both rooms were in fact comfort rooms as the standard rooms only have 'Wet Cells' and we had a proper bathroom and this for over Euro 100 per night per room excluding breakfast !!!. After breakfast we were then offered a spacious appartment with balcony without extra charge. Here again, everything cheap and basic. The living room furniture was ancient with an old tiled oak table and faded couch . The bathroom was large, clean and modern but the carpet had seen worse for wear, in fact throughout the whole accommodation area.
The breakfast buffet was ample, appetizingly presented, and a large variety of cereals, fresh fruits, sausage meats, cheese and warm dishes. The food in the restaurant was also excellent but overpriced, also beer and wine, but as there is no other restaurant in walking vacinity they can get away with it,. Service efficient and staff very friendly and helpful. To summarize far to expensive for what is offered
