“Friendly and Value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We stayed at the Manolya for 2 weeks last July. Room was bright if slightly old fashioned in decor but comfortable and spacioius (though it's clear from some we spoke to that this is not true of a number of rooms). Everything was clean and items in the room in good condition. The balcony was spacious with good views and a great space to sit and enjoy the quiet and mountain a sea views of early morning or late afternoon/evening. Could have done with a bit of a brightening up though - rusty old and noisy aircon unit not so great. Bathroom does have a slight mould problem, but nothing too terrible or unreasonable in this part of the world and there was always a good supply of sufficiently hot water at good pressure. Shower unit a little cramped though.

It's a good location for catching the dolmus into Kyrenia and elsewhere. Food (we were on free half board though we ate out fairly often) was good quality - just got a bit repetitive after a bit and could have been a little more imaginative. There is such good food to be had in Cyprus.

We arrived late and they were very helpful in holding dinner for us. In fact the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout. On the less positive side it was very hot and humid and frankly the air con couldn't cope - a newer unit was probably overdue. Also there is a real cockroach problem here. Lot's of instructions not to bring food into the hotel etc - but we had twice to kill cockroaches in our own room/hotel corridor. Spotted or heard one or two others - but the really bad area is the dining terrace. If like me you hate scuttling things, you will find it freaks you out (and made the half-board option the really wrong for me).

Overall, I think 3 star is about right. Without the cockroaches and ith an extension of apparent upgrading of some of the rooms throughout, I think the staff in particular would have edged it up a notch in my rating.

“Friendly affordable accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in January 2012. It was cheaper than hotels in nearby Kyrenia, but in a very convenient location off the main road. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, food was fantastic, and room had a stunning view of the sea and mountains. Would definitely return.

“Couple on Holida”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We hollidayed at The Manolya hotel over Christmas. The hotel was fairly quiet as this is their off season but we had a really good time. The staff we amazing, so friendly and we felt we were part of a great big familly. North Cyprus is a little gem, it has a very relaxed feel to it, you are welcomed everywhere, nothing is too much trouble. It is cooler over the winter but still has bright sunny clear days. We were there on a walking holliday and it was just perfect.

Room Tip: we stat second floor if you want sea and mountain view ask for this rooms

“Good value and excellent base to explore beautiful Northern Cyprus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

Our first visit to Northern Cyprus and this hotel more than came up to our expectations. We booked half board in advance and it turned out to be excellent value.
When we arrived late at night we were disappointed with our allocated room but within 12 hours we had been offered an excellent room and from then on we totally enjoyed our holiday at the Manolya Hotel. The Management and Staff were all very polite and attentive and made our holiday a very enjoyable experience. We hired a car for 6 days, all done through Hotel Reception, very reasonable and definitely worth having. We saw pretty much all of Northern Cyprus by the end of our 2 week stay.
The buffet breakfast was good with an excellent choice of eggs, potato, bread, cheese, meat, fruit, cake, yoghurt and preserves.
Evening buffet dinner consisted of 12 - 15 dishes of salads (mezes) all beautifully laid out and decorated plus plates of pickles/chillies and always a hot choice of buffet served by the chef or staff. Only one choice of hot buffet each night but each night of our 14 night stay it was different and delicious!
Swimming pool was very clean as were the terraces surrounding and the dining room and outdoor terrace where (weather permitting) it was a pleasure to sit and enjoy our meal. The owners and family all eat and sit here too and it was a lovely atmosphere when there was live music and entertainment a couple of times a week.
All in all this is a very good value hotel right on the waters edge serving up good value food and service. If you are looking for lively nightlife every night then this is not the place for you. If you like minimal entertainment and a fantastic location then this is for you.
Top marks to Management, Staff and the excellent Chef (from Istanbul)! Great holiday, thanks.

Room Tip: Our allocated room on arrival did not have a balcony and was of duplex style. We did not like it an...
