A very special exquisite place where heaven and earth met over the three days we were there. A pleasurable, peaceful and tranquil place where the rainforest sounds brought about total relaxation. The magic of the villa plus the superfluous enjoyment of a massage made the romantic interlude for dinner on the first night amazing. The addition to the holiday package was the wonderful host who made the experience more that much more perfect because of her beautiful manner and knowledge of the area, her pride in the detail to make the villa flawless in presentation throughout our stay, her wonderfully scrupulously cooked breakfast daily made our stay that much more special. Perfect, perfectly romantic and relaxing! We loved our stay there and will recommend the Escarpment Retreat to all our friends. The Escarpment Retreat has become a special, beautiful and romantic memory in which we would like to revisit again when time permits in the future.

We booked 2 villas side by side with friends for a long weekend. While the property was quiet and peaceful it shouldn't be called a retreat. There were no facilities to prepare a meal - or even a snack due to limited utensils - e.g. no sharp knife or chopping board.1 villa did have a microwave (though no suitable cooking/warming dishes) the other villa did not have one. Bit of a drive to get a takeaway meal and the option of dinner being delivered at 6pm was far too early for us.
The log fire in the villa was a nice touch but the wood was damp and very hard to get going. The common room/lounge was closed in the evenings - bit of a shame as would have been great to get together with our friends. The villas were nicely done though rather dated and very dark. Ours got no sun at all and lights were needed at all times. But the bed was superb.
Staff pleasant. Breakfasts were great. And sundowners on the edge of the property were wonderful -especially since there was no sun in our villa and no common area available!
We got the impression that maintenance of the property was getting behind - the "garden" outside our bathroom was just an unattractive mess.

Room tip: Unless you are visiting in summer, ask for a villa that gets the sun - afternoon sun would be especially good.

Hello and thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We truly appreciate your feedback regarding the ups and downs of your stay with us.

I'm sorry to hear of your disappointments, and I wish that you had brought the damp wood to our attention during your stay so that we could have assisted. We're happy that you thought our villas are nicely done, and thank you so much for acknowledging our pleasant staff and great breakfast.

Our 3-bedroom house the edge of the property, may have been a more suitable option for you and your friends. It has a fully equipped self-catering kitchen and 2 viewing decks, including one with a fireplace that you can sit around at night.

My partner organised and weekend getaway here for our 4 year anniversary, what transpired was the most beautiful engagement anyone could ever imagine... It began with a 1 and half hour indulgent massage and facial, chocolate, champagne the works. One of the owners helped my partner to set up and organise everything, from the location to the candles, champagne, chocolates, pillow for him to get down on one knee, sound system to play our song when the moment came, spectacular view and he even took photos of the moment (unbeknownst to me at the time). The spa bath was divine, my partner and I spent about 4 hours in it lol. Breakfast was delicious! And the rooms were exactly to my liking. The staff are lovely!! The only thing I can think of that needs improving is the sound proofing. Even when you can tell people are trying to be quiet in the next room you can still hear them. Thank you for being a part of that memory we will have forever!

Well when your better half says "that she does not want to do anything 'SPECIAL' for her birthday", and then says, "this is not a significant birthday", then this place will impress.
It is reasonably priced has high quality food that can be brought to your luxurious old world villa.
Magnificent grounds with a number of places to take the weight off your feet and enjoy the sound of the waterfall, admire the view all the way to the Gold Coast and beyond, or just admire the lovely gardens.
After that go and enjoy the large Spa Bath in your room, before settling down to complimentary champagne and georgeous chocolates.
I reckon that by the time you have had a really nicely presented cooked breakfast from the freindly and prompt staff, you will have definitely be looking at a happy significant other.

Room tip: Maybe a north facing balcony would be nice in the cooler months
