I stayed w my bf in greenex farms treehouse for 3days 2 nights (8th June - 10th June). I suspect we were the only ones staying at the resort as we were the only two ppl who were dining during the buffet meals, which makes our stay even more special.
How to get there: We took a bus from Calicut to Chundale(nearer to Vythiri). Afterwhich, we called the hotel staff and she arranged a jeep to pick us up from a pump station. We have to go through the tea plantation, which was so beautiful, before we reach Greenex Farms. For those who are driving, it may get very tricky. However, I assure you the staff will help you navigate.
Staff: I have nothing negative to say about the staff. Several Greenex staff welcome us at the entrance with an umbrella as i get down of the jeep. (we came during monsoon season) They were very polite, and are very attentive to our needs. Maybe it was because we were the only ones around, but they served us hot tea when we were playing scrabble at the main hall although its not in our package.
Meals: All meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are provided in the package, buffet style. We actually forgo going to a place which cost us to skip our meals because the food was such a treat. Veg/non veg meals are available, and I believed they are prepared with much love. we also learnt that most of the ingredients that they use are fresh from their farms.
Note: If you are missing any of your meals as you would like to dine elsewhere do inform the staff as they usually prepare way ahead (well i just hate it when food go to waste)
Treehouse: the tree house was what made our stay a very romantic one. The view from the veranda was picturesque. It's a beautiful tree house that does not lack amenities such as hot water, mosquito repellent, clean toilets and a nice comfortable bed. Don't expect any tv since you are suppose to enjoy the nature over here.
The resort: As the resort is in a coffee plantation farm, you can hike around and move freely to enjoy the beauty of the nature. There are several 'trails' recommended. There are 2 dining area, one for bfast and luch the other for dinner. However, since it was a monsoon season we did not dine outdoors (dinner area) and dine in the hall instead. I believe some visitors felt that the resort is not well-lit at night. However, I thought it was very romantic. We do need a torch light to move around the resort at night, but we have no qualms about it since we felt that more lights will just spoil the natural ambiance of the resort.
The pond is available for swimming, but we did'nt take a dip since the weather was too cold.
Cleanliness and maintenance: In general, the room was very clean and the resort was well maintained. However, there was a lot of maintenance work in progress and I suspect that they are building more rooms at the resort.
Activities: Greenex provides board games such as scrabble and other equipment such as racket, cricket bat, ball, books for you. If you don't intend to go out so much, you can do lots of activities with your friends and family. Pokhode lake (as recommended by the staff) is also not too far away, so we went to the lake for a 'romantic date'. The tea plantation is of walking distance from the resort. We loved the hike.
Value: After making comparison to a similar price that I paid at a hotel/resort elsewhere in India, I find that our stay was value for money. Also maybe because i felt that i got so much attention from the staff and felt like i was treated like a princess. :)
