We had a late flight arriving into the Phuket airport and needed to catch the 8 am ferry to Ko Phi Phi, so we chose this hotel because we thought we would save a little money since we were only going to be in it to sleep for a few hours. We also chose this hotel because it claimed to be near the Rassada Pier, which is where we were going to catch the ferry early in the following morning. The hotel is NOT close to Rassada Pier, it's about 30 mins away without any traffic and if you don't already know Phuket has a lot of traffic during the mornings.
The hotel is newly renovated and clean, which was the only positive. The rooms are very basic and wifi is slow and hard to stay connected. The whole hotel stunk of hot bleach or chlorine, which was nauseating.
The staff spoke very little English, like almost none. Which was surprising since every other hotel we stayed at during our Thailand trip had a staff that spoke English very well working at the front desk. We came to the front desk at 6am in order to call a cab to the ferry, which was at 8 am. Two hours should have been plenty of time to go the 30-40 mins to the ferry, however we couldn't get the front desk to call a cab for us. Two hours should have been plenty of time to go the 30-40 mins to the ferry, however we couldn't get the front desk to call a cab for us. Calling a cab for hotel guests at the front desk can't be an odd or out of the ordinary request, I would think that they do this all the time so I'm not sure what made this so difficult. We had a business card of the cab driver from the previous night that drove us to the hotel from the airport, he had agreed to come pick us up at the hotel and take us to the ferry whenever we called in the morning for 250 baht. The front desk would not call him for us and we didn't have a working phone in order to call him ourselves. Since the front desk wouldn't call the cab we wanted we agreed to let them call a cab for us that would cost 500 baht. They called a cab for us and said that they had to collect the 500 baht from us first since it would be a hotel cab that would take us to the ferry, we thought this was questionable since we had not seen any cabs - let alone any cabs owned by the hotel. We paid them the 500 baht and they said a cab would be there in 5 mins. Then 20 mins later a cab finally shows up to pick us up, however there is already a family in the minivan cab and there isn't any room for us plus our suitcases. So, now we still have time to make it to the ferry but we are getting really worried about actually getting a cab at all. Another 20 mins go and by now we are really upset since they keep promising a cab is coming and still no cab has shown up. We ask the two front desk workers for their names since this is unacceptable service and they wouldn't give them to us. Finally a cab shows up (which was not owned by the hotel) when there was only 20 mins to til 8 am and we still had to get to the ferry and buy a ticket.
The breakfast was ok, it made us think that the hotel was more for Asian tourists and not western tourist.More
