When we booked with Gayle and Frederic and we read on the internet that the B&B actually used to be a wine cellar we did not expect to find such a modern and exquisite place. We had the Cabernet room, which was huge, spotless and beautifully designed and decorated. Gayle has an excelent taste on that! The small private terrace in front of each room, which faces the pool, is delightful. Breakfast was rich and healthy. We would have liked to stay longer to take advantage of this wonderful place and to explore the serene surroundings.

This BB stays in a smal village, close to Carcassone.
The rooms are clean, new and well decorated.
The owners speakes both French and English. They are nice and helpfull, but much more polite than warm.
We consider the price a little bit high forwhat they offer (120 Euros).

Frederick and Gayle have turned an old wine cellar into an amazing place to stay. From the gorgeous Italian tile floors to the entryway skylight, there is thoughtful design and detail. Our room had twin beds with comforters, separate tub and shower, and separate toilet room. French lace curtains at the window. Other guests were next door, but you could not hear them. Breakfast served in dining room: fresh pastries, jams, fruit, yogurt, tea/coffee, etc. Swimming pool and lounge chairs. Huge living room with fireplace. Tiny village of Ventenac is quiet and laid-back. Sights nearby include the ancient walled city of Carcassonne (a must see) and the castle at Saissac. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer. The hosts are friendly and warm and very helpful with directions and arrangements such as dinner at a nearby chateau. Both speak English. We hope we can go back some day soon.

Once an old wine cellar, this beautifully renovated inn a few miles outside of Carcassonne, provided us with a relaxing and peaceful stay. Each room is named for a different grape variety which reflects the history of the facility. The peaceful nature of the inn can be attributed to the abundant use of the original stone, minimal clutter of furnishings, use of earthtones, and the presence of the blue water of the pool in the center of the courtyard. Hosts Gayle and Frederic and their adorable daughter Anais were perfect hosts. If you have a car, and are visiting Carcassonne, give this place a try. It's located about 15 minutes from the city; however, be aware that GPS may try to take you down one-way streets the wrong way in this little town.
