All rooms are facing the gorge and the Kato Zakros beach and thus have a great view. The rooms are rather simple but clean and have all the amenities required (refrigerator, kitchenette, AC, TV, coffee machine, etc). Each room has a spacious veranda where you can sit and enjoy the view. The owners are very hospitable and do their best to make sure you enjoy your holiday, providing helpful tips for things to do and places to visit.
All in all a peaceful place for relaxing.

We had visited Kato Zakros Palace 5 times within 3 years! It is peaceful there, the rooms are modern, simply and very clean and of course the hospitality from George and Charoula is simply Perfect! The view to the Gorge, to the Palace, to the small Village and to the Beach is beautiful and romantic! It is only 10 minutes to the main village of Zakros, where you can buy some things from the small Markets and about 40 minutes from Siteia (the road is much better now)! We will see you soon again, George and Charoula! Cheers...

We planned to stay 2 or 3 days - we stayed 2 weeks and we really enjoyed the atmosphere: A nice room with every comfort , a wonderful view from the terrasse, and last not but least friendly hours with George, Charoula and the mystery of Kato Zagros. We surely come back to Kato Zagros Palace! We have visite this place at first in the year 1974 and every year untill 1984, nothing have changed after 28 years! Nearly nothing? In those times there was no electricity, but one telefoneconnection to Zakros from the Kafenion "Anesis"of Kostas and Maria Spetsotakis. At that times Kato Zakros had the most beautifull "stares haven" " in the world" at night, but now ist gone, because the lillumination of the streetlaterns are too strong, to see the millions of stars.

If you're tired of crowded tourist ghettos - this is the place! Definitely NO PLACE for party animals or fans of swimming pools! Bring your swimwear, backgammon game, sudoku and books. You will be taken care of by the extremely nice owners; Giorgos (George) and his wife. And that's about it! Nothing will happen really - and that's the point. Rest, stare at the horizon, sleep, listen to the silence. Enjoy greek food and retsina at the tavernas where the road to Kato Zakros ends at the beach. This is a very remote part of Crete. And therefore unique. If you read this far without giving up - you will love it!
