Unfortunately we reserved 2 weeks with a half board in this miserable hotel on Crete.
Sometimes I ask myself if it could be worse.
The hotel comrises two buildings: an old mouldy and a not-so-long-ago built one.
Upon our arrival in the evening we were shown into a moudly and grey "room" on the ground floor, which resembled more a basement. Next morning a stray dog entered the room through the open balkony door, started barking and scared the hell out of me.
I insisted upon changing the hotel. After some hesitation the receptionist gave us a key to a room in a newer building. It was much better, but the mood had already been spoilt.
Ah, almost forgot to mention: in this new room the balkony overlooked the motorway (located some 30-40m away). Imagine how loud it was! Furthermore, dining in the evenings was not enjoyable at all. I am not picky, but if you eat things other than a self- mixed yoghurt for breakfast (had enough in 5 days!), then breakfasting is not gonna be enjoyable either. The hotel's pool looks big on the pictures only.
I like the location though. It lies ca. 13km away from Rethymno, almost in the centre of the island's north. We hired a car and explored Crete on our own. Once we went on an organized tour to Knossos.
Location around the hotel: the mountains are there and easy to climb up, the beach was okay, though to reach it you would have to cross a busy motorway - not something you really like doing at least twice a day or let your kids do. So please stay away from this hotel. I am sure there are much better hotels and B&Bs on this beautiful island.
