“Just as good 2nd time round!”

We stayed here last year and loved it so decided to come again. This is our little haven away from it all, without the kids so it has to be perfect.
We were upgraded for free as returning customers so had an amazing suite overlooking the bay. The rooms are comfy, spacious and ours was spotlessly clean, maid came every day to clean and with fresh towels daily.
We were also given free spa passes, the spa is lovely and the treatments are something else. Not cheap but worth every penny Chrissy is possibly the best therapist ive ever seen, very spiritual and totally engaged in every treatment, she really is great at what she does, thanks for fixing me Chrissy.
Food is very good, of course they reuse food, but its done very well with leftover potatoes used for potato salad etc. The meat and fish is cooked fresh in front of you and there was a carvery every evening. There are salads, vegetables, pasta, meat, fish, everything you could want and all cooked beautifully.
Every aspect of the hotel is well maintained, its clean, the pool area is perfect with no fight for sunbeds, no loud music, just a small pool bar and the sound of the sea in front of you.
Lots of people were moaning so here is my advice:

DO COME HERE IF:
You want to relax and do nothing
You like peace and quiet
You enjoy watersports
You like a variety of traditional well cooked food

DONT COME HERE IF:
You want it to be just like home
You dont like wind (it is VERY windy)
You like bars, clubs, shops, noise and endless entertainment

Im glad that theyve got rid of the piano player, but sadly Ilija the entertainment guy is no longer there and it shows. We barely saw the entertainment guy, he made no effort to interact with guests as far as we could see.
Also i would prefer this hotel to be child free, there is nothing for them to do here which is why i wouldnt bring ours. If you want kids clubs and entertainment then take them to a more suitable hotel.

We will definately stay here again, for us its just perfect!

Room Tip: Pay for your seaview, its worth it

“Very happy return visit”

Hi,as stated in my previous review of this hotel we returned again in January.
The manager was new and most of the staff had changed but Alex behind reception was still there to give a most sincere welcome.
We were all inclusive and the standard of food is if anythig better than last April when wwe first stayed. The main problem if anything is thelarge choice and the long meal times inevitabley means some food gets cool, although staff are constantly
monitoring the food temperature with the correct type thermometer.
Food cooked while you wait is available at breakfast time
Great quiet week, ohters stated they enjoyed the entertainment although we did not try.
location secluded but the village of el medano is one of the unspoilt jewels of the islands.
definitley going again in near future

Room Tip: Extra payment for sea view Junior suite will ensure sun most of the day on the balcony

“A bit far from town”

A very quiet hotel, although there was good, varied entertainment every night. The food would have been better if it had been a bit hotter but we had no major complaints about it. Had we realised it was a distance from El Medano we probably would not have booked as It would have been nice to wander around to small bars in the evening. Our junior suite was comfortable and spacious although we did not think that the towels or bedding were good enough for a 4 star hotel. The shower screen was grubby when we arrived and the same when we left as no-one had cleaned it so the chambermaids maybe need extra time or training. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Would not return, mainly because of it's situation

“Excellent hotel for a quiet week in the sun.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I had read several pretty scathing reviews on TA but I tend to concentrate on those reviewers who have contributed reviews for other properties they have experienced; if you don't you can either have A. This hotel is wonderful (tour op or hotel) or B. This hotel is terrible (competitor).
During a comedian/singing act on Monday evening there were two women who were the worse for the all-inclusive drink and shouted and really made pests of themselves. At first the singer took it on the chin but eventually gave up and asked if they wanted to stay they would need to pipe down or leave. They chose to leave (thank goodness;) but they will probably come on here with an axe to grind because they were exposed as the nuisances they were.
I was checked in very efficiently in no longer than 5-6 mins including safe, passport, credit-card etc. We made our way up to the room on the 5th floor, only two lifts but very fast. Our room was over-looking the sea, question your travel agent on this as the tour operators viewdata screen states side sea view (Thomas Cook, Thomson is mountain view). If you have either the east or west 'side-sea view' it will be very restricted and in the shade for the majority of the day. If you have a mountain view you will never get the sun on your balcony, some complain about the car park but its no better or worse than any other and you would have to be looking over the balcony to see it. You have the chance to upgrade to sea-view for 6.50€ pp per night.
The junior suite is a long room with full bathroom inc. bidet and over-bath shower; within 3-4 seconds the water is scalding so never any of the 'if you don't have a shower by 7 you've no chance' scenarios. There are 2 single beds with firm mattresses; didn't have any issue with this although i'm used to softer bed. There is a large double sliding-door wardrobe with lots of the hook-in hangers with clips for trousers etc
Downside is that there is not a lot of full-length hanging space (long dresses, trousers hung by the hem etc) so you may need to take a couple of hangers with you to hook over the wardrobe for longer things.
After the wardrobe the room opens up again into the seating area with a writing desk, mini-bar, TV, coffee table, chair and sofa(bed). The tv has about 20-30 channels but I only found Eurosport, BBC World, Sky News, CNBC, CNN in English. The minibar is empty (no ice making facilities though) but for 11-49€ the hotel will fill it for you, bit of a waste of time as there is a very well-stocked Spar Express next door.
Breakfast 8-10, Lunch 12:30-3, Dinner 6:30-9. The food was very well cooked and plentiful, we tried lots of different things that were typically Canarian and really enjoyed them. If you want burgers, fish-fingers and chicken nuggets this perhaps is not the hotel for you, if on the other hand, you want fresh food beautifully cooked then enjoy! Some previous posters complain about stuff appearing at a second mealtime and made it sound as if the staff serve reheats, this isn't the case. The peppers that can be added to your salad at lunchtime may appear as part of a stir-fry with you steak in the evening. Unless the item is a stew or curry the sauces are always served at the side clearly labeled. ALL food is labeled, with the Spanish, English names and a pretty picture just incase you don't understand either;) The food can sometimes be on the warm side but there is a microwave to bring it up to your chosen temperature. There aren't a lot of wait staff so they are under pressure, please bear this in mind and smile and thank them.
Entertainment- All day and varied depending on the day, something for everyone. 20 minute walk into El Medano, Saturday is market day- mainly craft, antique and clothing, held in the town square opposite the beach. Nice selection of shops but quite widely spread, seems to be a lovely little town that just happens to have tourists there.
To sum up- Lovely hotel, great food, nice town, would definitely go back! Any questions just PM me.

Room Tip: Sea View every time! High floor does away with the clatter of heels above you ;)
