Upon arrival at the ferry port we were greeted by employees who directed us towards shuttle vans that transported us to the hotel at no charge (same for the return to the ferry). The service at the front desk during our 3 night stay varied but they were always friendly.
The room was spacious, clean and quite modern. The only complaint about the room was the size of the shower.
The hotel is located ½ way up the hill (5-10 minute walk) from the beach and about a 20 minute walk from town. The hotel pool and bar were gorgeous but the highlight is the beach (nicest we visited in Greece). There are many restaurant options down by the beach and in town. Nightlife in town was amazing.
This hotel was the best of both worlds, as there was the option of lying by a peaceful pool and going down to the village on the beach to party. No real complaints about the hotel or service as we had an excellent stay.

eThe room was nice and spacious as opposed to some other European hotels. If you like the beach, watersports, and tanning the hotel is perfectly positioned for that purpose.

The wifi internet access hardly ever works. In fact, it works better on the beach than in the hotel's lobby. In the rooms, or anywhere where there is also a plug-in, the wifi does not work at all. There are computers in the lobby for accessing the internet though. This was an extreme source of irritation during our stay.

There were lots of ants in the room when we arrived. We complained to the hotel staff about them but they simply blamed us for having food in the room. The ants were very annoying - they were in the bed, shower and on the desk.Little to nothing was done to solve this problem during our stay.

The shower leaks onto the floor of the bathroom thus soaking any clothes left on the bathroom floor. Otherwise, the shower is nice and spacious.

The bar/restaurant is average. Everything is relatively cheap. The mixed drinks were wildly inconsistent but the food was extremely good.

On the whole my experience was below average.

We recently spent 4 nights here and it was absolutely faultless. Located high up on the hill, you have the best view down to Mylopotas Beach of anywhere on the island. The rooms are incredible value for money and are very modern, with new bathrooms, nice marble floors, french doors with big flowing curtains that open up onto your own balcony with table and chairs. Pool area is also very modern and clean, with chill out music playing and a full bar. The guy manning the bar was really friendly and we had the best cocktails there out of anywhere on the island! Much quieter at the Hotel and Spa than down at the Village, which with the free shuttle we visited regularly. It's close enough to walk down if you don't want to wait for the shuttle.

If you want to be close to it all but just enough away to have a nice quiet stay with a bit of luxury compared to the rest - then this is without a doubt the best. Staff were so friendly and they were on top of everything in an instant. Breakfast was the best we'd had on all of the Greek Islands, big selection and buffet style, served inside our out with beautiful views.

Definitely recommend a stay here and we would come back again in an instant.

I never got around to reviewing Far Out Hotel and Spa... but here's my 2 cents. I travelled there with Contiki. I found the hotel to be very clean. Great views from my balcony and the beautiful pool and bar. The Hotel sits up on the hill on a road of a main bus route between the main Ios town and Mylopotas beach. Both are also within walking distance for the beach during the day and the bars at night. The laundry service offered is good. Used the Ios Village Hotel down by the beach for lunch, drinks and a swim in the pool. Breakfast was good, with typical european selections. I would definitely consider this hotel if i go back to the Greek Islands.
