What a nice place!
I've stayed at the Weekender Villa (Koh Samui, Lamai Beach) twice. Both times were good experiences. You'll feel like you're staying at a Classic, timeless Southeast Asian guest house---AND it's clean.
Prices are better than at the bigger, more faceless hotels with hundreds of rooms. (Note: this is NOT the "Weekender Resort" on Koh Samui. It's the Weekender VILLA. They're different places; different owners & locations.)
What you get is a clean room with air conditioning (you won't need it that much, nighttime); hot/cold shower; room safe; small fridge; pleasant family mood staff; and a unique owner who takes time to talk to you.
The beach is just 20 metres from your room: pretty good swimming; and gorgeous evening walks along kilometres of sandy beach. Oh, and a nice thing about this part of Lamai Beach: it's not the crowded, noisy, central part of Lamai. It's still peaceful: an enclave in Lamai, nestled between that bustling Lamai part, and the overly-busy Chawang Beach further up the coast. It's quiet a night: you can sleep.
Most guests seem to be families or older Europeans: a happy & safe bunch--AND they talk to you. It was nice to meet friendly, nice travellers from Germany, Canada, and other farflung places.
There's a small pool...though with the beach right a your fingertips, why bother. Head straight for the ocean!
Oh, and for those interested in taking part in the "Body-Cleansing" regimen (fasting, etc.): Koh Samui's first (& foremost) cleansing places, "The Spa" is within a 5-minute walk from the Weekender Villa. Very convenient location, if you're into that.
I'd definitely stay at the Weekender Villa again. Worth every penny! I'm hoping that schedules, flights, and circumstances will allow me to visit it (and the peaceful beach) sometime in the very near future.
