“Nice central hotel”

Big spacious bedroom - we had a garden terrace room which was perfect but could have been quite noisy at night if it had been one nearer the road. If you are a light sleeper you might be better asking for a poolside room .The location of the hotel is great , right in the middle of the main street and just across the road from a wonderful night market.Hotel is not located directly on the beach but a short walk through another hotel gets you there. During our six day stay the sea in Lamai was very rough and not suitable for swimming so we spent alot of our time around the pool. Food is served in the restaurant during the day along with a selection of shakes and juices.Buffet selection at breakfast was basic but tasty and a choice of hot food was also available- the rice dishes were tastier than the american style breakfasts. The staff serving breakfast each morning were always bubbly and chatty .Staff (as in all hotels we stayed in during our Thai holiday) were amazingly friendly and were very helpful with directions, car hire etc.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a centrally located hotel which is great value for money.

Room Tip: Poolside quiter than garden side

“Good hotel”

Am Samui was a nice hotel with super beautiful pool area. We had a pool suite room with a living room and a bedroom. It was with a large terace facing the pool. The aircon was near the bed in the bedroom, so we used just the one in the living roon at nights. The bedroom and the bathroom were beautiful, but the bed was very hard. The cleaner cleaned the room, if we put sign for it in the door.

The breakfast was not good. You can choose something from a menu.Coffee was awful!

We didn`t like Lamai very much. The beach is dirty, not many beach bars as in Chaweng. We did not swim in the see because of high waves, witch is typical for Lamai I think.
There is lot of nice restaurants nearby.

“Pleasant stay, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Stayed at the Am Samui Palace for 3 nights (5-8th Jan). Great location right in the heart of Lamai. We were concerned after reading other reviews that there might be a lot of noise fromt he various clubs and bars, but we did not hear a thing. It probably helped that we stayed in the pool front rooms, a little more expensive but worth it. There were lots of cafe's, restaurants, bars and massage parlours nearby.

Staff were very friendly and efficient, they allowed us to use their phone at reception to call our friends who were staying in another hotel.

Rooms were relatively basic but very clean. Good air conditioning unit.

Swimming pool area clean and tidy, and only a few minutes walk to the beach at Lamai through the back of the hotel.

Breakfast was nice, small self service with usual breads, cereals etc, but to get hot breakfast there was a choice of 4-5 set meals. Although nice as they were freshly made, there could have been a little more variety.

Free use of two computers with internet in the hotel lobby aswell as Wifi. However, the Wifi did not work in our room for some reason.

All in all, a pleasant stay, although for the price we paid (£60 per night), we perhaps would have expected a little more.

“Not bad”

I guess the ever present dilemma of staying in a busy, developed touristy area is whether you choose a mass production hotel, big, lots if guests where you're just a number or you go for a more family run business where you risk terrible breakfasts and dirty manchester.

This place is very big, rooms are reasonably clean- however the shower curtain was DISGUSTING- had some kind of bodily fluid that kept my husband and I guessing!

Breakfast is simple - if you don't want eggs or ham, youre other option is toast and jam.

Staff at desk are helpful, made a few phone calls for us.

No pool bar, and pool water was dirty.
And I was hearing loud nightclub music at 5.25 am on the Wednesday night we arrived.

All in all, a decent place to stay in the heart of Lamai but not breathtaking or impressive.

“Awesome spot right amongst it all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

If you want to stay in the heart of Lamai, then this is your choice.
Walk to the left and you have Soi's full of bars, walk to the right and you have beer bars with the Muay Thai Boxing Ring in centre, go straight across the road and you are in the Night Bazaar, cut through hotel out the back and end up on the beach!

The pool area was lovely and gardens gorgeous. One of those places where the photos are 'real' - what you see is what you get.

Breakfast was really nice, a choice of 5 different styles of b/fast from a set menu, plus pastries, bread, cereals, fruits, juices coffee etc as a buffet.

Staff were lovely and very helpful, cleaners were fantastic and always smiling and ready to have a chat and practice their english.

Thoroughly recommend!
We will be back.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are probably quieter due to bar noise around the town.
