“Amazing Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Borgo Sant' Ippolito for a week in September 2009. We were very pleasantly surprised. The rooms are spacious, and immaculately cleaned daily. The continental breakfast was the best we encountered on our holiday. The staff was wonderfully helpful with maps and directions, and even helping us do the paperwork to pay a parking ticket.

Yes, the hotel backs on to a road, but there is very little traffic at night.

The dinners served in the restaurant are very good and reasonably priced.

The only issue we had was in finding the hotel, the google instructions have not been changed to indicate that there is a new traffic on the road to the hotel, so go halfway around the first one and take the first exit on the second one.

“nice food, bad location.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2008

the hotel is a good bit out from the nearest town, taxi service practically non existent so you will definitely need a car, the rooms are big and clean, beds comfy, showers great, dinners were fantastic. bad - the breakfast selection was grim, they do not do lunches or any food during the day, the pool area is overgrown and weedy and the pool is a tiny above-ground plastic thing. hotel is right beside main road, cars whizzing past outside the bedroom window were not conducive to a good nights sleep, the filipino staff were friendly and very helpful.

“Nice to wind down”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2007

We stayed at this hotel at the end of October for 4 nights. We had booked an arrangement with a travel agency specialised in train travels. We were suprised to find the hotel to be quite far from the next train station in Montelupo. The surroundings are ok but not spectacular.
The room was cozy and we really fell in love with the bathroom, which had underfloor heating, a heated radiator, a big shower and a magnifying mirror.
The staff at the hotel were nice. The hotel certainly has a lot of charm, as it is a converted monastery and it has been converted with a lot of attention to detail.
The sauna and fitness are in a separate small house 10m from the hotel. Using the sauna was very nice and relaxing. The swimming pool, which we didn't use, didn't look attractive.
The dinner at the hotel was fine. We went to Montelupo 2x for dinner, there are some good restaurants there.
To do our day trips to Florence, Pisa and Siena we had to get from the hotel to the train station in Montelupo. Because we had no car, we had to ask a staff member to bring us. These transfers worked out well and it felt like "coming home" every night when the driver waited for us at the train station to bring us to the cozy hotel.

“Nice hotel, but not the best location!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2007

We stayed for two nights, and enjoyed the rooms, the air-condition, clean bathroom, good food, and nice and helpful staff at a reasonable cost (about 86Euro per room/night)
What we did not enjoy as much, was the location. It was far away from everything, and a car was needed at all times. The surroundings was not the typical Tuscany we expected, so I suggest you pick a hotel in Chianti region if you want the Tuscany feeling.
If you got a car, you can go to other nice restaurants nearby, and to Florence in some minutes.
The pool was small and not really attractive for more than a quick "cool-down" when it is getting too hot.
We had two teen-age girls with us, and they thougt it was "boring".
