Wonderful view but beyond that, it leaves a lot to be desired. We stayed in the "candlelight" unit and it is in need of some repair and upgrades. The windows are jalousie style and a lot of the window slats have been broken out. There is AC in the bedroom only (window unit) and you have to leave the bedroom door closed all the time for it to be cool in that room. The rest of the unit gets warm in the evening when the breeze dies down. The shade by the kitchen sink is inoperable and needs to be replaced. The bed has an extremely cheap and hard mattress, very uncomfortable. The kitchen cabinets are in rough shape. No TV in the unit but that was not really missed. We had to buy our own toilet paper towards the end of our stay as it was never restocked by the cleaning crew.
On a positive note we were given the use of a prepaid cell phone during our stay and there was a security guard on site during the night time hours.
Overall, we were expecting the unit to be a lot nicer for the price we paid. We talked to another group that was staying in one of the other units and they said they have stayed there many times over the years but they said that they noticed the property steadily declining. Be ready to rough it somewhat if you're considering staying at Pelican Isle.
