“Rave Reviews but we found it to be just OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

I will be short, sweet and to the point! This resort is really just average but it does attract and lot of return guests. Maybe this is because some people like to think they are friends of the management rather than customers! We found the place to be dated in its appearence and in need of moderization, The reception area is dark and dull and feels restrictive and the furnishings (hotel and beach) were old and cheap. The service was ok but some of the staff (waiters and water sports) appeared to be surly and negative. The food was average and nothing out of the ordinary. The rooms were ok and quiet large in comparison to similiar resorts, but the bathwater was discoloured (grey to black) and usually luke warm. I guess if your coming down to the Caribbean for a couple of days then this resort will probably suffice. Hang around for a longer period and you start to notice the cracks in it's marketing image.

“Curtain Bluff defines Relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

My husband and I went to Curtain Bluff this June for a long-delayed honeymoon. We stayed for a week, and during the week, Curtain Bluff and its wonderful staff taught us how to forget all about work, and truly relax.

When they say "all inclusive", they really mean it. The best thing about Curtain Bluff is the choice… so many activities, such great facilities and, since almost all of them are included in the room rate, you never have to worry about breaking the budget. There are 2 beaches steps away from the rooms. The one that the room overlook is what they call the "surf beach", the lower level rooms walk right out onto that one. The calmer beach facing the Caribbean sea adjoins the lunch cafe area, with a full service bar. We spent most of our days lounging under the umbrella's, sipping a frozen drink, and swimming in the crystal clear sea. All in between the snorkeling, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, kayaking, water skiing, and sailing, of course. Service is friendly, unpretentious, and fantastic. The staff all seem so happy to work there!

The meals are absolutely delicious - my mouth is watering just thinking about the Banana Doreen dessert, and the truffled mac and cheese from dinner on our last night there. My husband and I are your average NYC office workers who rarely eat right, we came to truly appreciate the regularly timed meals that are hearty, fresh, and delicious. Live music at dinner every night!

We stayed in one of the upper level junior suites. Immaculately clean and tastesfully decorated, with whisper quiet air conditioner, ceiling fans, and wifi. Bed was very comfortable, and the tree frogs at night can be very easily tuned out by closing the door shutters (tho I found the sound to be quite tranquil!). Love the Aveda bath products, that soaking tub is amazing. Because there's so much stuff to do, we didn't mind that there's no TV (they do have a TV room should you need to, say, catch a game - my husband was able to watch his NBA Finals).

The spa - their spa is probably the most beautiful resort spa I've seen. Every treatment room has a balcony that overlooks the ocean, so you can experience any of their treatments outside! Spa services are not included in the all-inclusive rate, but the prices are very reasonable and service is top-notch as everything else at Curtain Bluff. Plus, spa guest can use the on-premise hot-water plunge pool which is an experience in itself.

All in all, if you're shopping around and trying to compare, don't - just book Curtain Bluff. You won't be disappointed!

What else can I rave about? OH, the banana bread. You must try the banana bread. YUM.

Room Tip: Lower level rooms all have beach access

“Curtain Bluff: As good as it gets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

My wife and I have travelled extensively in the Caribbean over the past 35 years and until last year, we had made at least 2 visits per year. We have stayed in many of the great hotels, e.g., Cap Jaluca, La Samana, Cusinart, Ritz Carltons, Caneel Bay. Little Dix Bay, et al., but our favorite since 1991 has been Curtain Bluff.
Last year health issues kept us from travelling, but we finally returned to Curtain Bluff last week. What a delight to "come home" to the warm, inviting and friendly team! Everyone there is freindly and always willing to help make the stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The food was wonderful, as always, and there just aren't many places anywhere that make relaxing so easy.
If you want a lot of action and excitement, you should probably go to one of the big chain hotels. But if you wanted to be taken care of, with personal attention, as if you were a favorite member of the family, head to CB as fast as you can.
We can't say enough good things about Chelle Hulford and her willingness to maintain and preserve the 5 star reputation Curtain Bluff has earned. We wish all the good folks at CB nothing but the best as they move closer to their 50th anniversary next year!

“Curtain Bluff Great for Families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2011

This was our sixth year traveling to Curtain Bluff for our family Easter vacation. The resort gets better each year! Our boys are aged 8 and 9 and we love that everything is included. Especially all the food for the kids, and the activities like snorkeling, kayaking, hobie cats, etc. I love the spa -- great treatments and the hot tub overlooks the sea. Just heaven. I highly recommend this for families in terms of the value in the all-inclusive pricing, as well as the variety and quality of activities and the very attentive staff.
