“Terrible? I agree !!!! lol”

I have just read through all the terrible complaints ans I AGREE, these people are not lying! EVERYTHING they say is true!
Im happy to find out today, that African Safari Club have ceased trading! That will save us poor people from putting ourselves in a potentially dangerours situation!
I feel sorry for the staff though who were not paid their wages, and demoralised by their peers. Jobs are hard to find for them, and they have families to feed and clothe just like we do. My heart goes out to them.
If your going to Mombasa please stay at Whitesands hotel its 5 star and fab! Your wishes are put first by this hotel, but i doubt you wil have to ask for anything they are so good.

“We had a good time.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2011

When we arrived we were shown to our sea view room that had spectacular views of the Indian ocean, the room was basic but reasonably clean. We paid for the safe in room that was large enough to fit a big camera or small note book in the price was 2.5 Euro per day, also the rooms have a ceiling fan. If you tip the room cleaner man at the start you will get more clean towels ( the towels have seen better days) and sheets, you can ask for a fridge
There is no internet at the hotel but 5 minutes away in shanzu ther are internet cafés, you can also access the web at other ASC hotels that were you can use the facilities.. Also here you can change money from various outlets, the rate was from 126 to 130 to the pound.
I would advise taking torches as power cuts are frequent and when the power goes there is no water, we filled our old drinking water bottles with tap water and used them to wash with when the power was out. I even filled a larger bottle with pool water to flush the toilet a few times, he hotel does not have a generator.
I would advise booking B&B and paying for evening meal on a day by day basis as its only 6 euros and you can eat as much as you like. The food was OK we and our friends never got ill during the stay, at breakfast you could order eggs cooked to your requirement.
There are two swimming pools that at times are very quiet, no hassle getting a sun bed. Lunch is available by the pool from a basic menu for just a few pounds.
For what we paid I couldn't have expected anything better than what we got, its not the Ritz but every effort was made by the staff to make our stay wonderful.
We booked a 3 day 2 night safari to Voi lodge and Kilimanjaro camp and booked with ,Calamari
it was truly brilliant. Prices can be haggled a bit but we paid £230 each.
It was nice to have a full massage after the Safri and we went to Villa 9 Salon were we paid less than £5.00, the staff were genuine and friendly.
All in all an excellent holiday.

“Great holiday for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2011

We had a room overlooking the beach and the Indian Ocean- fabulous! Monkeys were a bit of a nuisance, but bearable. Food was very samey but mostly quite edible, usually plenty of fruit ( if the monkeys didn't pinch it off your plate!). We had a 3-night, 4-day safari which was very good - visited Tsavo East, Tsavo West and Amboseli game parks- ride was a bit rough- but we saw LOADS of wildlife!! Hotel was OK. Some power cuts, which meant no water for shower or toilet, which was a bit inconvenient, but heck, you're in a Third World country. All the staff were very nice, all very cheerful ( surprising as we heard that they were having trouble getting paid). All in all a great experience and one we wouldn't mind repeating.

If you are going think bed and breakfast cos u wont be eating in hotel for long, i ad food poisoning within a week. But if this happens toilets are ok to use, cos u gona need em. very low key entertainment, but i entertained meself by going in kitchen each day and showing chef, did i say chef??? anyway showing him ow to keep food hot and how to NOT peel bananas as they go brown, lol. Apparently his last job was , wait for it, HEAD CLEANER!!! But for a cheap hol altogether not bad Id go again but would av to be cheap.

“Terrible Stay----”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2011

Never to the Mombassa- "Paradise". Please change the name.

No water in the room
Covered my whole body with soap, no water for shower. No phone to contact to the responsible person to solve the prob. I have to go out, covered with soap, to contact a plumber to maintain the pipe or whatever.

No light at night
In the middle of the night, light went off. If you can't use light when night, then for when is the light!! The craziest experience!

My Camera and all Kenyan Shilings stolen
All my Kenya memories were lost because of employeed theives by the "Paradise" beach hotel. I had a week stay in Nairobi and have stayed in 3 hotels. Two in Nairobi and the last one in Mombassa- the "Paradise". Nothing has been taken from me in Nairobi but on my fist day at the end of my stay in the "Paradise", all my Kenyan Shillings and my Camera with all the memories in it were lost. And the officials defend the issue.

A terrible stay!!!!!! what a paradox with its name. Better change the name to its equivalent!

Never to the Mombassa- "Paradise"!!!! Never!!
