“Better than expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2010

Just returned from this lovely hotel. It may not be 5 star but the service certainly was, courteous attentive service all the time, nothing was too much trouble. The food was far better than you would expect for this price. A wonderful selection of salads and a choice of fish, meat and curry and various vegetable dishes. We had our wedding anniversary there and were served a champagne dinner on the beach just a few feet from the restaurant. All the staff were fantastic with a special mention for the manager and Anoushka and Gino. Everybody made you feel special.
The room was comfortable and was kept perfectly by the room attendant. We overlooked the pool and we loved sitting on the balcony and listening to the live music, we could also watch the Sega dancing from there but we usually watched from the bar. The whole atmosphere was wonderful.
The beach is not the best but was very interesting seeing the fishermen come and go and seeing local life and the excitement when one of the fishermen came in with a 120 kilo Marlin.
The free shuttle bus was very useful taking us to the sister hotel La Plantation at Balaclava, the beach there is one of the best on the island.
The local bus stopped outside the hotel for Port Louis about every 15 mins and you could go the other way towards Grand Bay with one easy change at St Josephs.
All in all a lovely place to relax with nice low key entertainment .

“An idealic place to get away from life in general”

I stayed at this Hotel for two weeks, and it was so homely. The staff were very good and aimed to please most of the time from the management to the kitchen staff.Security around the Hotel was excellent.
The food was cooked authentic mauritsianstyle,a little cooler than English are use to.but fresh and well made.
The one thing that was dissappointed with was the lack of evening entertainment and no English speaking TV.which would have helped especially in the evenings as it came in dark at 18.30.also the dogs barking in the early hours of the morning.I would recommend to a friend.

If anybody wants to be far away from madding crowd then it is good to stay here.Rooms are neat and service is good .This hotel is far off from city so no leisurely activities. You must try your own time spending techniques else will get bored of seeing nature for so long.

“Great little hotel”

We stayed here for 2 weeks. Very small hotel so it was brilliant not getting jostled at breakfast and no hunting for tables. The staff are very helpful and both the manager and his deputy are constantly asking if everything is OK and to ask if you need anything. What a refreshing change from larger hotels.
We hired a car for a week so were able to see most of the island. The car hire was recommended by the hotel and cost approx. £27 a day which was cheaper than we could find on the internet.
The hotel runs a free shuttle to Port Louis every Wednesday and to it's sister hotel La Plantation 3 times a week. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel where you can get a local bus to Port Louis for 20 MR. Apart from a small shop opposite the hotel there is nothing else nearby, although Jumbo Supermarket was about 5 mins by car.
The rooms are well maintained, brightly painted and large enough. We had room 112 on the ground floor with the balcony practically on the beach, so were able to watch the local fishermen bringing in their catch.
If you like peace and quiet then you'll love this hotel, otherwise for lots of activities then go elsewhere.

“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2010

I spent 2 week in this hotel and had a good time. The people working at the hotel are really kind, ready to help you. The rooms are simple, but functional and spotless. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, so you can get around by public transport or there are taxis if you prefer. The hotel beach is not brilliant, but there is a sandy beach only 10 minutes walk away. Also there is a free shuttle to another hotel (La Plantation), where you can use the facilities. At the Plantation there is a diving shop, the guys are really professional and nice there.
The bar at the hotel closes at 10 pm..., so you had better get your drinks before. But, hey you are in a 2* hotel.
If you want to spend your entire holiday at the hotel don't go to this hotel. If you need a clean bed, and kind people around you this hotel could be an option. It is not a fancy hotel for a honeymoon.
