We booked a 'Cozy' suite at the Mantra Samui Resort for my sister's birthday. The property is fantastic and the rooms are beautiful. The room, just like the name suggests, is SO cosy! The interiors are done very well and I was pleased to see so many thoughtful gestures! They had a random collection of books and novels to read :) by the bed, by the couch! A pillow menu and the nicest bed! There even was complimentary internet access and a great movie library! I was a happy person! The restaurant is quite nice and we tried pretty much everything on the menu and would recommend the local cuisine over the others. I particularly enjoyed breakfast every morning where they took a lot of effort to make food look like a work of art! Something as simple as scrambled eggs would be presented so beautifully! There is a beautiful infinity pool right next to the restaurant, again with superb views of the sea. They have regular shuttle services to Fishermans Village and Chaweng Beach which made travelling easier for us and we didnt have to worry since gettin back to the hotel by yousrself seemed like a task because of the location!

On the day of my sister's birthday, some friends back home had arranged with the reception for a cake and bouquet to be delivered at midnight which didn't happen and after a LOT of phone calls, it was finally delivered the next morning. The staff came in singing a happy birthday song with an extremely beautiful bouquet and a cake and everything went great! My sister was elated, so I'll just ignore that minor hiccup.
The best part about the property are the stunning views from every room. You wake up to the mighty blue sea stretching all over the horizon. Just beautiful. You could easily spend time in the hotel room without getting bored!
The cons being- 1.Its located on a hillside so its quite steep and at a bit of a distance from the main road. The road to the hotel is not lit by night, so you HAVE to have a mode of transport, cannot walk it from the main road. 2.The staff is not very fluent in english and communicating was a bit of a task sometimes. But they make up for it by being extremely sweet and polite.
Apart from that we had a memorable stay at the Mantra Samui and definitely plan to go back whenever we can! :)More
