Myself and my partner are just back from a fantastic holiday in Thailand, during our stay we were lucky enough to spend 5 nights in the Mantra. All the previous good reviews were right, this place is first class and different than any other hotel we've stayed in. Guests are really made to feel special. The facilities are first class, i even use the gym which is not something i'd normally do on a holiday. The gym even wash your gym gear for free.
The infinity pool is designed well and we always got sun beds, which are actually luxury bean bag type beds.
You can use the pool more or less anytime as the bar and breakfast area is next to it.
Some people complained about the price of food in the restaurant. It is a little more expensive than on the strip but i would recommend that you go there once and see for yourself. Try some local food which is very reasonable and one of the Pizzas is large enough for 2 people.
I will definitely stay here again if i ever get the chance and would have no problem recommending Mantra to friends.
Friends of mine stayed here the week previously and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience too.

it was a impromptu trip and i just felt i had made the worst decision in my life as i watched the taxi trudge painfully but with utmost respect up the steep hill. The heat had almost sheered the vegetation to a sandy beige as tarmac climbed in cosily with parched ground .It wouldn't take much to fly off this road i thought. And as we taxied to reception my heart sank further. All i could see from the SUV were black pillars and a short area to designate our arrival.i hoped fervently that this was just a pit-stop. Then joy crawled out through the woodwork.
There were warm hellos ,chilled welcome drinks.,our rooms were upgraded and we were whisked away. The door opened to a balcony with a jaccuzzi and a lounge bed and the most breathtaking view of the sea .The room was all i could have hoped for after many a tour disasters.there was no actual need to venture out of the room -every detail and amenity was taken care off .And the room was cleaned and turned over for the night with a lovely touch -a placement card with quotations and sweets.
the beautiful pool is built over the well-equipped gym.the pool is open24 hours -just great for late time swimmers like us.we had yoga classes which we thoroughly enjoyed ,taken by an an amazingly experienced trainer. The spa staff were so professional and we spent hours indulging in pampering ourselves.
And the restaurant outdid itself.Such fine dining in the perfect ambience. We also managed to shuttle to the beaches and town whenever we were feeling guilty for not being touristy enough but we were well aware that we were not missing much. And the night before leaving as we walked up to the room a li,ttle sad and nostalgic , we saw a letter tucked unde the door .We assumed it was the bill -but it was a thank you note from the management with a token gift to remember MANTRA by.
..what more can i say!
what made the mantra experience different was the gentleness and care that we were subjected to continously. No task was big enough .Every request was attended to effortlesssly. The warmth ,the smiles and the goodwill from the staff at reception and right up to all the facilities were so in unison that it was hard to believe that the resort was new.As the saying goes '-the funny thing about life ,if you are unwilling to have anything but the best -you usually get it!!!mantra-i am so impressed!!"-SUNTAN,MALAYSIA

Room tip: uphill climb to the restaurant -but you are saved by golf buggies.Certainly for travellers who want best of both worlds -the hill resort and access to beaches.

Stayed at Mantra Samui was very fantastic with great & professional helpful staffs.
We're in Cozy Mantra Suite, big room for 3 persons with nice sea view from hill,  in-house movies & minibar with new coffee maker machine (capsule type). Beautiful & great place for relax ^_^ very clean.
They also offered 1 hr massage for guest who arranged booking with hotel directly.
Yoga class, sun terrace, spa, squash, pool, snooker, children play room..
..many activities in this resort.
All staffs at shuttle, front office, bar at pool side, restaurant, even in the kitchen, pool and everywhere in this resort are willing and ready to help & service guests.
Even this resort is on the hill but there're 15 rounds free shuttle to Chaweng beach and Fisherman village and you can connect the minibus to everywhere on this island.
You also can rent a car with price start from 1,500thb / day.
Breakfast is very nice..parma ham, smoke salmon, salami, ham, different types of bread, vegetable and cereal, fresh yogurt, fresh milk.... I especially love iced coffee cuz they served with honey. They use "illy" ^_^
We'll be here again next time / Maleerat

Just back off a two week stay at Mantra and I have to say considering Mantra had only been open 4 months, I was really impressed. I've been fortunate enough to travel an awful lot, so I have much to compare Mantra with, and for sure it is high up on my top places to stay list.

Like with any new venture there are always ways to make it better, but when your starting point is already excellent, great things will bestow Mantra, especially if Robert and his caring team deliver on their clear desire to be THE place to stay on Samui.

Room tip: They are all beautiful but 'COZY' are ideal for the pool

We stayed for two weeks at the Mantra resort and enjoyed every single day. The hotel is still running it's opening discounts, which makes Mantra unbeatable in terms of the price-quality ratio on Koh Samui at the moment. We share many of the excellent and thoughtful remarks and comments in the other reviews posted here - no need to elaborate further, really...

The best things about the resort are the stunning views from the rooms, the excellent service level, the extremely friendly and professional staff, the spacious rooms, and the many small details that show the love that went into designing this place.

It's a good idea to rent a scooter (300 Baht per day) from the hotel to explore the island, if you are in the mood. We loved the independence this gave us and discovered many beautiful places across the island. You'll also be happy at Mantra if you are into active relaxation - the fitness study is great (small, but with highest quality work out machines that cover all major muscle groups), and so are the free daily yoga classes and the squash court. We also loved the mini computers that are attached to the flatscreen tv's in every room, which give you free Internet access and hundreds of movies and songs to keep you entertained (we ended up watching A Game of Thrones every night and got totally hooked to it).

The staff was extremely professional and friendly and made every effort to ensure that the small problems we had (weird smell in the bathroom, Internet not working) were fixed immediately and that our stay was made perfect. The place is ideal for couples and families who want to rest in a great location and don't mind (or value) being a little away from all the buzz at the main beaches. We hope to be able to come back soon.

Room tip: They have three types of rooms. The WOW rooms are loacted at the top of the hill, with the best view over the ocean and the green, lush tropical rain forest below the resort. The COZY rooms are bigger, with a separate bedroom and living room, which is perfect for families with kids or groups of three or four travelers sharing an appartment. The LOVE rooms are just as big as the COZY rooms, but they have a huge terrace with a whirlpool instead of the second room, and the giant bed is in the center of the room - this place is perfect for lovers!
