We had a wonderful week in one of the chalets. Excellent location (if you like it quiet). Superb, well appointed accommodation. Very warm despite the weather not being the best. The large porch is a great drying space with plenty of room to get boots off in the warm before entering the lounge. We were there in August but I am sure the chalet would be comfortable and warm in winter (electricity and heating are included in the price - there are no hidden extras). The TV and DVDs were largely ignored as the view and wildlife seen from the lounge were entertanment enough. Ten minutes to get to Stromness or twenty to Kirkwall when needed. The only thing that wasn't near perfect is the soundproofing between the chalets (bedrooms are back to back). So if your neighbours were noisy you might be disturbed if you are having a long lie in. However, not enough of a problem to reduce the rating from excellent overall. We have already booked a fortnight for next year. Need I say more?

Very good accommodation with everything needed. Thanks to Kathy for showing us around the accommodation and little gifts offered. Also detailed the tourist brochures that were in the chalets. Showed us the laundry facilities. If we go self catering to Orkneys again, this will be our stop. Nicely placed between Kirkwall & Stromness. Would definately recommend stopping there if you are considering visiting Orkney.

Wonderful place. Great location yards from the sea. Very high spec finish to the Croft House where we stayed. We spent the week in the kitchen (!) which has picture windows of Hoy and Stromness, comfy seating and plenty of room to spread out. Look out for the little owl which comes to visit. All rooms very well equipped, kitchen especially. Impossible to fault it. Really, really good find I can't recommend highly enough.

My husband and I stayed in the newly finished Buxa Croft House with another couple and it was the best part of our holiday. We had traveled from Glasgow, Scotland to Oban, to Port Appin and on to Skye for week before moving on to Lewis and Ullapool. Each place had its own unique flavor and feel but Orkney was amazing. We all fell in love with the Island, the people and the lovely Croft House that had been recently finished by Kathy and we were not disappointed. Every attention to detail was taken care of and she is the most amazing host in that she supplies you with every little bit of information for experiencing the area. We will be back.
