“Lovely Hotel just needs a little loving tender care”

Went here with a KGB deal. Cost £79.95 for a two night break with breakfast. Normal cost in excess of £230.00. The hotel building itself is fantastic, you walk in reception and it just engulfs you into the history of the building. We were on the first floor and the room itself was lovely. Bathroom needed up dating (grey and peach tiles!) Bedding was just white and had no throws etc so it did let the style of the room down. One critiscism was the room was cold all the time, we even ended up getting in bed at 3 in the afternoon!! (no not lucky hubby!!). The grounds are stunning and the approach is beautiful. Staff are fantastic very attentive, there is a young one that was rather liek a pitball with lipstick but my hubby said she was misunderstood!. The food was fantastic, beautifully cooked and presented.
The only thing that i feel lets this hotel down is that its animal friendly. We were the lucky ones that had a dog in the room above us that you could hear bark and tottering accross the floor!
Overall a lovely experience and i have rated this on us paying £79.95, if i had paid the £230 may have been a little disappointed

Room Tip: Try to get one of the rooms that over looks the lake

“Our favourite hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

Myself and my fiancé stayed at Bodidris Hall in May 2010 and loved it therefore we decided to return in December 2011. This time we stayed in the Elizabeth suite which was lovely! The room was huge, complete with a large fireplace, window seat overlooking the lake and a four poster bed which was really comfortable! We found the staff friendly, the food amazing and the general ambience at that time of year with the roaring fire (which appeared to be constantly lit throughout our entire two night stay) and the Christmas music which was playing during dinner and breakfast which was a great touch!! We are hoping to return in December this year. We absolutely love the place and highly recommend Bodidris Hall!

“Lovely setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Setting is beautiful, staff are excellent, food is faultless. However when we stayed recently, the hotel is in desperate need of a good clean, our room was filthy, full of dust and cobwebs, furniture is shabby. Bathroom was clean, however shower was useless, no water available for part of the time. Overall shabbiness and grubby room really spoilt a delightful place. I believe the hotel has recently changed hands, I hope the new owner gets their rubber gloves on or employs someone to do it,

“Touch of ancient magic in wales”

Driving up to Bodidris Hall in the pouring rain we were in awe at the sight we beheld at the end of the long drive a lovely ivy clad gem in the midst of beautiful countryside with peacocks and geese on the lawn.As we entered reception my first words were wow!,the panelled walls and suit of armour added to the lovely initial atmosphere of the place and I immediately knew I liked it. We were warmly greeted by two lovely friendly ladies Katy and Carol.Carol showed us up to the Elizabethan Suite and we were more than impressed by the spacious room with its large mullioned windows it had a view of the lake to die for!Carol was patient courteous and kind as she answered my many questions she is very knowledgeable and obviously loves the hall or the old lady as she calls it.The bathroom was spotless as were the sheets and bed (which was a four poster)We had lunch a little later which was delicious as were all the meals (our compliments to the chefs well done!) All the staff are fantastic Jamie,Hailey ,Tracey ,Jan ,Katy and the lovely Carol and serve the hall well.I had initially got a KGB deal for 2 nights but we couldnt bear to leave and stayed an extra night!I combined our stay with a 4 x 4 driving experience (Motor Safaris ) and clay pigeon shooting as this was a Xmas gift for my husband and wanted extra treats for him I would highly recommend both and suggest the hotel could liase with the appropriate people and provide a package deal the activities are only a short distance away.We saw the new owner who was very busy bringing in lovely new couches and generally sprucing things up really providing a new wardrobe for a lovely old lady!! her enthuisiasm was clearly evident she is helping to preserve a little gem amidst such beautiful scenery and we wish her lots of luck in her new venture. We will certainly be visiting again in April for my husbands birthday to be spoilt by the caring staff and loose ourself in the atmospheric and envelloping warmth of the place.

Room Tip: well worth paying extra for the suites although all the rooms are lovely and quite

“New Ownership”

I took over the hotel in late Nov. after having stayed twice whilst negotiating. I love the house -the fabric of the old building and its strong link to our Welsh history. Like many guest reviews, I found the place filthy in places. First bedroom i stayed in there were cobwebs trailing from the lights, the feel of dirt everywere and worse - a family of spiders had taken up residence in the bath. Second bedroom i stayed - all looked well until i plugeed in my phone charger and went through cobwebs and dustballs before getting to the plug. The first thing I have done is address this with the housekeepers and they are being strictly monitored. Cleanliness is a priority.
Second - the decoration. The dried flowers that were on every possible surface went into the bin as did many of the stuffed dead animals and bric a brac,
Many of the drapes, bedcovers, switches and swatches are already on the bonfire and new curtains are now being made. This is still work in process as there is going to be another big bonfire this weekend - very therapeutic
Couldnt do much Dec until now as fortunately we had really good bookings over the festive season. But this week I am back continuing with the above and tackling the aged beds. Old ones on way to tip and new King size beds moved in. Also upgrading the furniture in bedrooms this weekend.
Next project is to tackle the bathrooms that sadly need updating and then.the more fun work of choosing paint and new artwork.
Many comments reflect what I thougt of the hotel and I would really appreciate any advise you can give. One idea is to use 2 cottages in the stables opposite the hotel for holiday lets so may be used as overflow from hotel at weddings or for young families who prefer to self cater. May convert one of the buildings for walkers in the region. Hope you will bear me whilst I try and improve the state of Bodidris and bring it up to the standard that such a beauiful house deserves.....With many thanks for staying at Bodidris and words of encouragement, Dr.Davies
