We recently stayed here for a few nights whilst on a walking holiday. The welcome from Sandra and Keith was genuine and the hospitality excellent. We would have given 5 stars, but our room was a bit on the small side and we would have preferred to have a bath - a shower is not so relaxing when your muscles are tired! However we booked very late and didn't think to ask for a bath so this was our error.Breakfast was served in the conservatory, overlooking the garden. It was plentiful, hot and tasty with great bacon! Sandra was very helpful, suggesting some good walks and offering maps of the area to assist us. The residents lounge is a nice touch, although we were so tired we didn't get to use it. Very comfy bed. We would recommend this place to friends.

Glendale House was recommended to us by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway when making a booking for their Pullman Dining Train, We arrived a little damp and bedraggled, due to inclement weather, to a wonderfully warm welcome from Sandra & Keith.
Our room was spotlessly clean, had a very comfortable bed, and a nice view of the moors. The location is perfect for soaking in the "Heartbeat" atmosphere, and more importantly for us was only a short walk to the railway station to catch our dining train. Our hosts offered to drive us to the station but as it had stopped raining we decided to walk after accepting the loan of an umbrella from Sandra!
Lovely breakfast both days - we will definitely return!

We spent 3 days in Glendale house at the end of September 2011. The hosts were genuinely friendly and told us all about things to see in the area. After watching the show "Heartbeat" and knowing what the house looked like from the outside we found that the inside was really nice. Sandra and Keith recommended that we go to the Mallyan Spout Hotel and it was o.k , but not much character. On the moors we found much better food and character in the many pubs dotted all over the countryside. Our room was small but practical , but in all fairness most of the rooms that we stayed in were small . It was fine though. Breakfast was o.k , but not as good as most other places we stayed in. The continental breakfast croissant was a long way from being fresh and we would not recommend it to anyone . The full English breakfast was fine but lacked a fruit salad as found in other B & Bs . We would go back there because although we have stated what we experienced , none of this was bad. The extension to the house (breakfast room) was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed eating in there. The lounge was well stocked with reading material and was really comfortable. If you happen to be visiting Goathland then you really should stay here because you will likely love it just the same as we did. One last tip . If you want to enjoy lunch or dinner on the steam train , book before you go. We didn't and consequently we were out of luck. It was booked up for the following six weeks.

We stayed here with friends and enjoyed every minute. Lovely location, warm welcome and great breakfasts!
