I stayed in the hotel for two nights during my tour around Iceland. It was a nice hotel, and was clean and neat. The room was large, the bathroom more than adequate, My room was on the ground floor, but stairs were involved to reach it, and my guide arranged to use another entrance which eliminated them. We walked down another flight of stairs to the breakfast room, so I am fairly sure there was not a lift. For those who may need that facility, I suggest you make full enquiries.
The hotel had a lovely outside eating area, but two cold on the first night.
Breakfast was included in the price, and the buffet was plentiful. One of the only hotels in Iceland which included herring on the breakfast buffet.
Dinner is served in two areas. There was a more formal buffet service, and a simple more casual option. We chose the more casual option, ordering pizza. It did however take a good while to arrive.
The hotel is in a very pretty area. It is forested and the road into the hotel was a series of winding swtichbacks, rivers and valleys. it was so beautiful, remote, peaceful and quiet.
I loved it.
After dinner I went walking, so peaceful just wandering around the area.
My guide told me a folk story set in the area. it is about a little girl a ring and a worm. It is an intersting story, and he said that people are stillencouraged to look for the worm in the lake. There are rewards to be had, if you see it. My suggestion keep looking for it, but don't hold your beath doing so.
Well worth considering this hotel when travelling around this area. Again I do not know the price, it was booked for me by someone else, as part of the complete tour around Iceland's Ring Road, with a private guide.
