My wife and I accompanied by two friends arrived mid afternoon from Venice after having disembarked from a 28 day transatlantic cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam from Fort Lauderdale.
The B & B is located not far from the town of Zocca and in such a beautifully tranquil location that you had to pinch yourself to realise where you were.
We were met by the owner Agostino who proceeded to show us to the accommodation; well it was simply beautiful;
** fabulous living area with open fire place & comfortable seating;
** a large kitchen dining area with all that one would need to prepare meals;
** a powder room / laundry on this level;
** a flight of stairs then led us to two beautiful bedrooms with ensuite.
The B & B section whilst attached to the main building is private with its own entry.
He had prepared for us on arrival, homemade cakes and biscuits and lit the open fire as the evenings in this region were still cool.
Another great point is that Agostino with his parents run a local "deli" which is at street level and under the main house with all that one would need to prepare a wonderful meal.
Agostino's father (Rolando if I recall) was gracious and kind enough to take me through the are that he has used for 30+ years to make prosciutto, salame, parmesan cheese etc; the smells were sensational !!!
That night we had pre arranged to meet some friends at a restaurant just up the road called "il Cantacucco" although we had been several years before just wonderful, if you are in that area do yourself a favour and get to experience the magic of Roberto!!
The following morning when we came down to the kitchen, a marvellous assortment of cold meats, jams, breads, cake, eggs, etc had amazingly appeared without a sound.....ghosts in the night!!!!
It was such a sad time when we had to leave as we all felt that we were leaving family, however I know that God willing, we will return and not for just one night.
It is just a shame that we would need 30 hours to get there from Australia!
If you want 5 Stars in a big city then go to Rome or Milan, if you want peace, tranquillity and complete satisfaction then go to "Solo Per Quattro"
PS The writer was not paid for this review and it is written in gratitude out of the sheer enjoyment experienced.
