My wife and I decided to stay at the Old Court while we were town hopping on a long weekend away from London. We selected the Old Court as it seemed to be a unique and quirky B&B and weren't disappointed. We had a gift voucher from a friend, but the Barristers Room was unavailable, so we upgraded our room to the Judges Suite which was quite large, very spacious and the bed was quite comfortable. As the Old Court is along the main road, I was a bit concerned about the noise. However, we didn’t notice any traffic noises. Possibly it was that the room had a small lounge and the en suite was along that side, which provided separation from the main road. The only noise noted being in the morning when preparations for breakfast were undertaken, but nothing significant to cause any disturbance during our stay. The decor was suited for the setting of the Old Court and as the night before we stayed at a contemporary artistic boutique hotel it provided a different experience on the trip. It's apparent that Nancy is quite a fan of pets; besides the dogs and cat, you’ll note a lot of the decor based on a feline theme.
Nancy was extremely friendly, helping prior to our arrival with suggestions on dining and arranging our reservation, as well as making us feel welcome during our stay. Our dinner was at the Old Station Inn, as we opted for something casual and fun. The food was decent, nothing profound, but we enjoyed ourselves very much. The place was quite fun and the staff was extremely friendly, as were the patrons we chatted with.
In the morning my wife had the blueberry pancakes and I had the full English breakfast. While I wouldn’t say it was phenomenal, it was good. But I’d say the blueberry pancakes were the better option. These were quite tasty. Upon leaving Nancy was, as typical, very friendly and we chatted for a bit before heading out for the next place.
It’s definitely a good place to drop in for a stay if you’re looking for a comfortable, quirky place in the bath area. Just do a little research, look at the photos and read the reviews and you should have an idea of what to expect and not be surprised by some of the things that may have disappointed others.
