We rented Villa One for 9 nights from July 9th - 17th. Everything was exactly as advertised and on the online pictures. Our rate of $400 per night was very fair and included taxes. Apart from minor problem with Wi-Fi for a couple of days everything worked perfectly. Can't speak for the other villas but this one is newly renovated and shows like a model. We had a private chef in one night from Simply Delicious for my 60th birthday... awesome service and food.

Charlotte in the office was very helpful and eager to please. We enjoyed the poolside in the afternoons with wine and hors d'ouvres before setting out for fine dining. I have been a visitor to the island for 20+ years and own three timeshares at Flamingo on the Dutch side so I do know what i'm talking about when I say...you can't beat this.

We have just requested availability and rates for Aug 2012 when we hope to return.

While St Martin was as nice as we remembered from our last visit, Green Cay Villas was not. On our last visit (#9), the villa was perfect and the management office staff was great. Prior to our departure this time, I proactively asked about some troubling reviews I had read (see "NIGHTMARE" below) describing the condition of the villas and the security. I was assured that the security issue was an isolated case of a guest leaving items out on the deck and we were moved to an alternative villa (#5) that was said to be in much better condition. While the villa appeared to be in nice condition when we arrived, within 2 hours the power went out. We called the office repeatedly to ask what to do. We never received a response. We found a neighbor who helped show us where the power box was. We reset it, but over and over again the power went out. We continued to call the office with no response, not even up until the day we checked out. Our only option was to not use any air conditioning in the main living areas for the entire week. This required us to leave all of the windows and doors open in this area for the entire week. (Not that the main front doors of the living room locked anyway.) In one bedroom the toilet did not flush. We first asked about this on Sunday and this toilet was not repaired until Wednesday. We had to flush this with buckets of water for four days.

I'm not sure what the story is with the cleaning service, but they came Sunday and Tuesday and no other days....

The evening of the robbery we are not quite sure what happened. All outside doors were locked. The intruder never bothered with the unlocked (un-air conditioned) main living area, but somehow accessed our pool area, maybe by scaling the balcony, and somehow found their way into one of the rooms where 2 of us were sleeping, and the sliding glass door was open for some air. It sure seems strange that they did not bother with the un-locked main living area at all? Again, our attempts to contact the management office were ignored. We were told they would send security over that evening about this so we sat home waiting. They never came. So the next day we went back to the office where they told us that security was not going to come meet with us, but had just watched our street that night. OK. They then told us to go to the police station in Marigot to file a report. We drove to Marigot only to find that it was a holiday and they were closed. The office failed to tell us this was a holiday. So we searched and found an open station on the road back to Orient Bay where we filled out the reports and were told to come back later that afternoon to finish the process. When we returned, we had to spend over 2 1/2 hours completing these reports. The entire day of our vacation was lost.

I am extremely disappointed in the response to any of these issues by Green Cay Villas. Having no AC for an entire week, with no response to the numerous messages we left, is ridiculous for the rental fees that are being charged. Being robbed after inquiring about this before departure and being told not to be alarmed is really a shame.

St Martin and Orient Bay are fantastic and with so many nice places to choose from, never ever stay here.

My wife and I just returned from a week long vacation at Green Cay Villa #9. This was our second time to stay at GC Villas. We had such a wonderful time last year that we couldn't wait to return but our experience was anything but wonderful. The villa was in very run-down/worn-out condition, but that wasn't the worst part of the villa. First there was no key to the safe in our bedroom so we had to put our passports in the safe in another room, not very comforting! A glass door leading out to the back side of the villa would not lock so I had to jam the handle with a stick to secure the door until it was fixed on the 5th day of our stay. On two nights during rain storms our villa bedroom leaked water and plaster from the ceiling onto the floor and steps to the bathrrom. Hair dryer did not work and toilets worked occasionally and there was no telephone service in the villa. The phone wasn't a big deal until we needed to call security.

But the most distrubing thing was that our villas was robbed on the 6th night of our trip and upon reporting this to the staff in the office the next morning I discovered that another villa had been robbed the same night. Our loss was confined to items that were left in the pool area and a bathroom. Several staff members told me that it "happens all the time" and that some guest would wake to find someone in the bedrooms! One staff member told me that she recommended to the manager that all the locks should be change but was told that would be too expensive.

Thankfully, we only had one more night in the villa and I proceeded to jam a chair under our door knob to prevent anyone from entering with a key. Glad to get out of there!!

Way too much money to spend for a villa where you do not feel safe!! We will look for another more secure villa on our next visit or visit another island.

You will see that it is very easy to gain access to the pool/deck areas of the villas as the main doorway to the villa is open above the door.

After an absence of 9 year we had our 3rd stay at Green Cay Villas. The office staff is as always the strength of Green Cay. We stayed in Villa #12 and it was spacious and clean. The master bath has been beautifully updated; the other 2 bathrooms will hopefully be upgraded in similar fashion. The villas continue to look and be comfortable, however there are a few things that show age........a few cracked floor boards, pool facing stains, outside umbrellas tattered; not major issues but the difference between 4 and 5 stars, if you would. A special thiank you to the girls in the office....always friendly and responding to our requests.
