I have stayed at the Craigiebeld hotel on a number of occasions and have seen the changes that have tranformed this hotel into a very pleasant experience.

The rooms are cosy and comfortable, the food is excellent and good value for money, really nice bar,all the staff are nice, friendly and helpful, always go out of thier way to help.

The hotel is postioned well for commuting to and from the city, with good bus, taxi services locally...wil always use the Craigiebeld and will recommend to anyone.

.

Room Tip: book in advance, all the rooms are good anyway..

I stayed over in this hotel, and had a fantastic time. i have read reviews on this hotel before i booked and it seemed to be ok. check in was quick, the staff were very friendly. good big helpings at breakfast. i ate in the hotel resturant at night and the food was excellent with large portions. the menu is not extensive but offers good pub food at reasonable prices. overall i was delighted and would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Terrible service in restaurant”

I live beside this hotel so have seen it change owners several times in the last few years. We had been in several times for drinks and after reading the reviews we thought we would try the hotel restaurant for a family meal. On a friday night our party of 6 and another table of 4 were the only ones in the restaurant. When the food came out it was all fairly plain. The brown bread with smoked salmon was sliced brown pan. How easy it would be to have soda bread or a freshly baked brown roll instead. Chunky chips turned out to be regular out of the bag variety. One of our party ordered the mushroom rissotto and the rice used seemed to be long grain and the mushrooms were chewy. We sent this back and the waitress asked if we would like to order something else to which we said yes. She took the dish away but came back ten minutes later saying we couldn't have a replacement but all they could do was offer one dessert free. They then charged us for the main we sent back. I was livid but as I wasn't the one paying the bill or the one who ordered the rissotto I didn't complain. This shows what bad management is in place here. The chef or owner never came over to speak to us. We spent around 200 that night and would have gone back regularly if they had impressed us. After this meal we won't even go back for drinks. I would advise avoiding this place as there are plenty of nearby places to eat where you get decent customer service.

“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

We only stayed for one night as we were on our way down south following a West Highlands driving tour. Hotel and room was clean, service was good and friendly The toilets ajacent to the public bar made me smile, amusing toilet seats! It was a bit cold in our room and we couldn't get the heating to work. Quick chat with the landlord, he went straight to our room and problem solved. We had a very nice meal in the restaurant, best pepper sauce I've ever had (and I'm very piccy). Breakfast was nice but a choice of a cooked breakfast would have been appreciated as we had another long drive ahead of us. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. They have obviously spent a lot of money recently on this hotel and I believe they plan on spending more. So it can only get better.
Good choice if you plan on visiting Rosslin Chapel, it's only a few miles away
