“Average Hotel in a great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2010

We stayed at the Ginza Nikko Hotel in early December for 3 nights whilst visiting Tokyo. The hotel is in a very good location in the Ginza District, approximately a 5 minute walk to either Shimbashi Station or the central Ginza Shopping district. The rooms were supposedly renovated late last year but the bathroom and other room facilities felt very old and outdated. On the whole, this did not affect our expectations of the hotel as we were using JAL coupons to pay for the stay. Overall i would only recommend this hotel if you can get a cheap rate or are staying for business reasons.

“great price but location not as good as it seems at first glance”

While located centrally in Tokyo, the hotel is located rather far away from any metro station so it takes a while to go there on foot.
Check-In was very professional with staff speaking perfect English. Each morning I got a free newspaper in English language. The room was very small with the wall closet being only abt. 4 feet high. Bathroom was less claustrophobic but seemed 70s style with sink, bathtub & toilet in green. Big minus: erratic plumbing resulting in water from the tub flooding the floor when you pull the plug. It's no problem when showering though.
The room had TV, a minibar and aircon - all working fine. Windows can be opened, curtains close well.
All in all, not a really good hotel with mediocre rooms & location but they offer some amazing rates.

“Fantastic location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 February 2008

Great location to train station and shopping and restaurants in Ginza. A small hotel, but rooms were not as small as we had anticipated. Convenient to bank and corner store. No internet service.

“Rooms are for 2 inch tall people”

Stayed at the Ginza Nikko while I was in Tokyo, both times (before and after visiting/working in Taiwan). For approximately 200 US dollars, I would expect a room to be large enough to allow a person to move about comfortably and store bags comfortably. Not so here. I have paid less for a one night stay at hotels that have had bigger and more attractive bedrooms (Residence Phou Vao in Luang Prabang, Laos is one example). I am sure some bathrooms in some five star hotels are bigger than my bedroom and bathroom COMBINED. Room would have been great had I been the size of a chihuahua, but I am not (5'10"). 'Nuff said there. Bed is comfortable, and so is bathroom. Bathroom was clean. Both those factors are pluses. Never had dinner in the restaurant, but breakfast was decent. Had to lug 5 bags up and down the entrance stairway (before entering the building). Not good if you are on crutches or in a wheelchair.
PS: Smokers are a problem.
