Quite a nice place tucked up in the Ligurian mountains next to the tiny mountaintop village of Triora. Clean, up-to-date rooms, and a big, comfortable lobby with overstuffed chairs for lounging around. Lots of outdoor terrace space to enjoy the marvelous views over the valley.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Not everyone speaks English, but everything worked out just fine. Food emphasizes hearty and traditional rather than haute cuisine. Breakfast included the local Triora bread. No dinner menu, dinner was served by the full staff from a buffet line. Individual name cards for guests at dinner were a nice touch. A few of us who were out on the terrace just before dinner were greeted by staff who offered us a sip of local sparkling wine as an apéro before eating, very nice indeed.
Town is an easy walk up the hill. Triora is not large, you can see the whole thing in an afternoon. The views on the other side are great as well. Town is maybe an hour or more up winding roads from the coast, not difficult to get to from San Remo.
On checking out, I got a friendly suggestion from staff that if I liked my stay, I could consider posting a review to TripAdvisor. Well, here you go. Not a problem, I would have anyway.
